DR. JAY DE SOCA PRINCE

Known as 'De Soca Prince', Canada's most prominent Soca DJ, is proud to call Toronto home. He has taken his radio show (Soca Therapy) from Canada to the Caribbean, the U.S. and more.

Jay is undoubtedly one the world's best Soca DJs and was recently recognized as such by the Soca Awards Organization for the second time with the 'International Soca DJ of the Year' award. He was the Toronto DJ of the Year 98-99, Flavour Pool DJ of the Year and was also nominated for Best Radio/Media Personality from 2001 - 2004 and won the award in 2002 at the Canadian Urban Music Awards. "The recognition is great and I'm thankful. But that's not why I do this. I truly love Soca music and cannot imagine my life without it." Even though his weekly radio show, Soca Therapy on FLOW 93.5, has been consistently at the top of the ratings in its time slot (according to the BBM surveys), Dr Jay remains humble. "Talent can take you where your character can sustain you. That's what I want to be known for. Not just being a good DJ, but for being a good person."

Regarded as one of Soca music’s pioneers in North America, Dr Jay is always trying to stay ahead of the curve and has consistently brought new ideas to the industry. Very recently, Dr Jay introduced PODCASTING, which is a first within the Soca music scene. Each week, a high-energy mix is available for free via www.drjayonline.com and www.trinijunglejuice.com for Soca music lovers to enjoy an original Dr. Jay mix on their iPod or mp3 player. Last week's Shock Treatment mix boasted over 18,000 downloads.

Dr Jay prides himself on working with young DJ's. He is a DJ instructor at the newly established Scratch Lab Insitute (The very first DJ School in Canada) and is the founder of KOS Radio (yet another avenue to nurture and develop the talent of DJ's within the 'Kingdom of Soca').
