MAKES MAGIC WITH HIV YOUTH INITIATIVE, MAGICO MUNDO CARNIVAL COSTUME LINE AND
REGGAE AMBASSADOR, FREDDIE MCGREGOR DOCUMENTARY! On November 24, 2005 from 6pm-10pm at The Courtyard by Marriott (Trinidad), Caribbean based Funsation4 made their Trinidad 2006 Carnival debut! For this historical occasion, Funsation4 planned an exclusive media launch to include Jamaica's own, Grammy nominated, Freddie McGregor O.D., his recently released Coming in Tough CD and video premiere, SIPABATT Steel Orchestra and the announcement of three cultural and community related projects: Bridging
the Gap HIV Initiative - A community "give back" and collaborative
project developed by Funsation4 and the Archdeaconries of Brooklyn & Queens
HIV/AIDS Ministry. The goal of this project is to "bridge the gap" between
international companies based in the Caribbean and local HIV organizations, like
the Cyril Ross Nursery, by funding, supporting and strengthening HIV programs
and outreach in an effort to combat the HIV/AIDS epidemic throughout the Caribbean.
Highlights include - Cyril Ross Nursery site visit complete with storytelling,
face painting, medical supply and clothing donations and more. Support provided
by Courtyard by Marriott, Travel Span Vacations, Laparkan Shipping, Lucozade,
and Reggae Rags (NY) with media support provided by Caribbean World News Network,
EventWorks Plus! and Harris Public Relations (FL). Monetary donation of $5,000TT
from Hilton Hotels Trinidad. Currently, Ms. Smith is the Manager of Marketing & Communications at Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts and the Founder of Funsation4; a Trinidad based organization founded under the mission of promoting the fun-loving and festive spirit of Trinidad & Tobago through quality cultural and socially driven entertainment events adding a unique element to Trinidad's famous Carnival festivities. Funsation4 committee members are Ann Hartley, Michelle Ford, Renee Simpson and Aaron DeCoteau. The Archdeaconries of Brooklyn & Queens HIV/AIDS Ministry was created to provide Referral, Outreach, Pastoral care and Education (R.O.P.E.) to individuals and families infected and affected by HIV/AIDS, the Archdeaconries of Brooklyn & Queens HIV/AIDS Ministry was born out of the St. George's HIV/AIDS Awareness Ministry in response to the HIV/AIDS crisis. The ministry has been dedicated to this cause and is diligent in the efforts to reduce the number of new infection statistics that continuously show that HIV/AIDS have disproportionately affected women, children and people of color.
