UBERSOCA CRUISE... DO SOMETHING KRAZY!
(x 2)

UberSoca Cruise 2018... All I remember coming out of two back to back cruises is "Do Something Krazy". It was my first time hearing and experiencing the energy that is Dominican Bouyon Soca and boy oh boy did it dominate the pace for both cruises. I must say kudos to Asa Bantan for the high energy songs like "Do Something Krazy" and "Wet Fete" which had the crowd in a tizzy every single time it played. The only other songs I saw create that level of energy was Zeek's "Wet It Up"... oh, and every time Motto (reppin' St. Lucia) hit the stage! Everyone on the second sailing who knew I did both sailings for some silly reason kept asking me to compare the two cruises, so let me give my honest opinion. Both cruises had the same energy and vibe, but Ship 2 definitely got waaaay crazier and almost destructive when Asa came on. I've never seen a crowd throw down a fence on command within seconds, and then put it back up afterward. It just goes to show that when we all unite under the beautiful umbrella that is Soca and Carnival, nothing is impossible.

Let's fast forward to start in Miami. It's always so humbling flying in with so much artistes and DJs and liming around them at the hotel bar and the Pre-Cruise Party "Halloween Edition". This definitely caught me off guard, because now, for the entire cruise, I'm like "She was Superwoman right? And that one there was the sexy Nun?" I think maybe these Pre-Cruise Parties are the reasons for the unbelievable energy within the crowd from the start at both Sail Away Parties. I'm saying it this way because the past couple of years, the Sail Away Parties were when people would now be settling in, getting in the mood, loosening their waists and prepping to go hard for the White Party at night, but not this year! This year was hard pump on the pool deck and VIP Parties, to our showers and back up top again for the All White Party. A beautiful sea of white washed the pool deck as artists 5 Star Akil, Preedy, Sekon Sta, Nailah Blackman and Marzville all took their turn making the crowd wine and shell down the place. It was the kind of party and artiste lineup that left you wondering how they could top a lineup like that for the rest of the cruise. Apologies for not taking photos at the After Parties around the ship, but "it wasn't that kind of party" ;-) Those are for the real Feterans, and we respect them letting loose at the after parties without the paparazzi, so take our word on it, they were LIT!

Day 2 of sailing... choices, choice, choices to kick off your day. Socacize? USC Football Tournament? Oh wait, give it to Ubersoca to introduce a new fete to the 2018 line up - Bed & Breakfast Fete (6:00 am - 10:00 am). If you not finding time to sleep, be sure to find the time to EAT. It's time for the Rum & Water Pool Party. Two years ago, the crowd was split up for the pool party, but not this year. Thanks to Shal Marshall's "Splinters" music video last year, the Pool Party became a must attend, and man was it beautiful. Gorgeous women clad in bikinis as they fete along to the sweet sounds of the Sons of Steel pan segment, riddims from Kerry D Drummer and artistes such as Cayman Islands' reigning Soca Monarch Andrea Rivera, Mr. Trouble in the Morning V'ghn (Grenada) and none other than Peter Ram reppin' the 246 (Barbados). After getting your daily dose of sunlight, sexy women and soca, we heard the shout, "Winter Is Coming", as it was time for the Theater Turn Up: Game of Thrones Edition. There the entire crowd was brought to laughter with the comedic relief of Trixx (and Trinidadian comedian Keevo on Ship 2). After busting our bellies with laughter and defeating the White Walkers, in usual Ubersoca tradition, we turned up the theater into a big party, to set the pace for the Game of Thrones Night Party. This party also had an all-star lineup including Ravi B, Farmer Nappy, Fadda Fox, Motto and Lyrikal. D Party Lit! And again, if you still had energy to burn after, there were after-parties to go straight until day break.

As the sun rose over the ship on Day 3, you could just peep out your windows and see the beautiful island of Labadee, Haiti showing off its crystal clear waters and gorgeous white sand. We were escorted off the ship with a Gombey procession (an iconic symbol of Bermuda, a unique performance art full of colorful and intricate masquerade, dance and drumming) and were free to roam the beach or take the shuttle to ... J'Ouvert in Haiti. There Ubersoca cruisers were greeted with a Riddim Section for those with the "Iron Love", and a full team of Red Antz Miami personnel locked and loaded to distribute paint and powder. Yuh cyah play mas and fraid paint and powder! From the get go it was almost raining paint as everyone colored each other and the beach around. Then out runs Lil Rick with his 'True Story' about putting these sexy bumpers to 'Work'. Next came T&T's Nailah Blackman to start the 'Workout' that headliner Kes The Band finished in true Ubersoca style. Between those performances and the DJs, the crowd "Wet It Up" and did a lot of "Somethings Krazy"! This might be the time for me to remind future UberVirgins that pacing yourself is key, because although I managed to catch the Midnight Mas on Ship 1, I went a little too hard on Ship 2 and overslept after the J'Ouvert (*hands over face*). Midnight Mas (BYOC) is everyone's opportunity to get fully into the carnival spirit by wearing their mas costumes while feting to more legendary soca artists. Yes, BYOC stands for Bring Your Own Costume. The lineup included Patrice Roberts, Shal Marshall, Teddyson John, Skinny Fabulous and the biggest and baddest Djs in the industry, followed by the usual bar crawl chasing after parties.

As the sun shone on the pool deck for the 4th day of sailing, 50 Shades of Pink littered the pools for the Brunch pool party. Chill on the deck as the USC Basketball Tournament runs at the back of the ship and the Domino Tournament kept the remainder of patrons in exciting competition. This is probably the only day that seemed a little slow paced as we recuperated our energy for the last lap, and what better way to recharge than a fancy dinner at the Bacchanal Ball: Wakanda Forever Edition. Everyone came all decked out in beautiful African inspired clothing and face paintings as they filled the grand dining room and ate to the beautiful sounds of Mapy the Violinist and the Sons of Steel. Take your time and digest your fancy meal because no more stushness allowed as we gather on the pool deck for the Uber Finale - put on your PJs! In this last lap, artistes such as King Bubba, Ricardo Drue, Voice and headliner Bunji Garlin did the cleanup job of taking every last bit of energy from the crowd. Shout out to Fay Ann Lyons who celebrated her birthday on board with a cake presented by the USC team on stage towards the end of Bunji's performance. Is fete til we falling down to the Big Bad Soca! I'll never forget the image of such a large crowd partying under over a dozen flags, showcasing the striking unity that Carnival and Soca creates. The After Parties on the last night at sea had Ubersoca cruisers partying past the balloon drop On D'Avenue, straight 'til we docked in the Port of Miami. #TeamNoSleep

Full respect to all who made both sailings possible, the hardworking USC team, coordinators, artistes, DJs, MCs and ship's staff for what I consider a flawless production. Sending some special love to Barrie Hype, who unfortunately missed this year due to unforeseen circumstances. Your signature "Heeeelllllloooooo" wake up call and non-stop sh*t talking was definitely missed! That's it for me. I'm curious to hear what my fellow team mates Adam aka Sweet Juice and Neil aka Joy Juice have to say about their USC virgin experience. Until USC 2019!
