Tell me that you need me, yeah! Tell me that you want me, yeah!

It has been seven years! Yes! Seven years since I have met Dre aka The Carnival Ref and under the scornful Guinness, we have been attending Notting Hill Carnival (NHC) hard, with pace and seeking entertainment! The 2013 installment of Notting Hill did not provide anything different from the previous years, or did it?

We start off the weekend on a Thursday and with that in mind – PoisonUK's After Work Lime is always the place to be! Always! If you have just landed – well you should be landing on the Thursday – this is where everybody seeking London's Caribbean Diaspora will be located. Always an easy accessible venue and with a DJ line up promising a relaxing but entertaining evening – it always makes going to work the Friday very difficult for the London based attendees (especially if you did not take the day off!)

The Badda Bing Badda Boom now starts on the Friday. With the usual line up for Friday – we have the PoisonUK Carnival Concert with live performances from Bunji Garlin, Lil Rick and Orlando Perez this year followed by their usual after party which goes from 2:00-7:00 AM. This has definitely kept its standing strong hold in the NHC Weekend. Never fails! Never surrenders! Always pulls in a crowd whether it's the concert or the after party!! Busspepper's Bacchanal Friday also provides a flavoured tasty event with an array of DJs and a sold out crowd – this will always be another stalwart event in any Notting Hill as it provides a great teaser to meet people, see who has finally come in (all the last minute people) and of course warm up your waist lines and throats for the fun times the next three days. Also, after Busspepper … once finished at 4 AM – if you are still haunted you definitely want to hit the PoisonUK After Party!

*Warning* New Entry … *Warning* New Entry …. This year Daddy Juice and Juicy decided to check out Reading Festival to catch up with long time frens Jillionaire and Walshy Fire who are now part of the BIG sound Major Lazer. Diplo, large up yaself! So for all the die hard people who love music and live performance type DJ sets … this was definitely right up their alley! (Bunji Garlin - Differentology - Major Lazer Remix play)

*Further Warning* New Entry …. *Further Warning* New Entry ….. Ruk-A-Tuk Premium All Inclusive Breakfast Boatride! Oh My Days … OHH EMMM GEEE …. Jeeeeez …. Wet … Wild … Immense … 10:00 AM Sailing … Lets Get It On!! After seven years, it was about time that there was a breakfast cruise at Notting Hill ... and this one was well put together and immaculately well received. The Bajan posse really showed the route around the thames. (Mikey & Blood - Roll It play) Big up Markee for arriving late and having everyone waiting on him!! smile

Saturday evening after the boat ride, we have the All Inclusive event – the only all inclusive event left at Notting Hill – Shipwrecked. This year themed "Shipwrecked In Brazil" – we are happy to see this All Inclusive still in the standings for the Notting Hill weekend as we know we have seen a couple fall off the radar and never to be heard from again … Where are you Danclair? Where are you PoisonUK?

Fresh from an All Inclusive, most people say, "Ah well, money well spent, I am going home!"– if you are haunted … travel down to Oh Gosh … Vinny, Martin & Sean – live from Tudor Rose with Lil' Rick & Bunji Garlin …. Always a full house, always full of vibe & energy! Never fails … and this year, a two minute performance from Konshens sent the place MAAAD!

Sunday morning if you could can get up – you have a variety of bands to cover yourself in dirty mas …. from TriniPosseUK "Colours" …. Pure Lime "Chocolate Mas" …. ABIR "Colours Of The World"Chocolate Nation UK …. there are loads on the road, but the main Caribbean dirty mas bands are the aforementioned. All of them bring a different crowd, they bring a different energy, of course different numbers and sizes, however, the vibe is based on your own personal strength, the amount of alcohol you have drank, and of course if you playing mas with your friends.

Monday – UK Bank Holiday – Whoooo Hooooo – the day of the final "Wuk Up"!! Choose Your Mas band … select your Poison … make sure you have your cup … put on your make up … fix up your hair … bring out your carnival shoes/boots …. I could go on and on … you have PoisonUK, you have Euphoria, you have TriniPosseUK, United Colours of Mas, Bacchanalia … I could go on and on … the Notting Hill Parade route is normally very crowded ... we like Machel Montano, "Jamming Down The Road" … its non-stop …

At the last dawn of light on the Monday, as we approach the grove, a sense of sadness always encroaches … the five days are over …. Another year has come and gone … New Faces, Old Faces … It always has a change … it's the only way forward!

Want to thank everyone for a safe & wonderful carnival and a special shout out to the following:
