Since Miami Carnival always falls the same weekend before Columbus Day, that Monday is usually a holiday for lots of folks. This means partying late Sunday night after the pardade, and better yet, not having to go to work or school on the Monday!! With no work, TJJ had to find something to do that was up to par with the rest of offerings we've checked out this MIA Carnival. With a long list of impressive performers... Shaggy, Rupee, Marlon Asher, Iwer George and Adesh Samaroo to name a few, D'Beach Bash was the movement.

We decided this would be a nice change of pace from the hectic fete weekend, and took a drive down to Ft. Lauderdale Beach on A1A (next to Yankee Clipper) to check it out. As expected, a lot of other folks decided to check out D'Beach Bash also, because when we got down there at about 6:30 PM the parking lot was full and we got stuck in a line of traffic. So after backing out of the traffic we parked way down, closer to Beach Place. As we started the walk back to the event, we could hear what sounded like Rupee blasting from the speakers. So we picked up the pace, press passes in hand (thanks Danny) and we headed backstage to take in what was left of the show.

Rupee was in fact on stage seated with an acoustic guitar in hand looking like a true folk singer, as he sang a tribute to his mother (who passed away) Woman I'll Always Be. The rest of the show was typical high energy Rupee. After Rupee's set, the crowd was treated to a slew of up and coming artist such as local rap artist Cracker Jack, Ragga and the original Ganja Planter Marlon Asher - all of whom were unfortunately plagued by sound problems.

They then made way for the final act of the night... the top selling Reggae artiste of all time... none other than Mr. Boombastic Shaggy! Let us tell you, the gyals dem love some Shaggy!! He went through a medley of his past and present hits and was joined on stage at different times by Rayvon and a LOVELY young lady who's name escapes us now but she hot like FIRE!! In fact, we think that is the name of her forthcoming album. Catch them all on the TJJ TV Exclusive video footage to follow.

Special thanks to Fuzion Productions for having us. Peoples, if you missed it this year, you now know where you need to be come Miami Carnival 2006!! We gone.
