DC Carnival On D'Road
Date: Saturday 25th June 2005
Venue: Georgia Ave, Washington DC

When they say parade starting promptly at 10am and ending at 3pm, any West Indian would think to themselves, "What stuuuupidness I hearing??!!!" Well, TJJ crew was still recovering from Taboo on Friday night and reach Georgia Ave about oneish only to catch the tail end of the parade. It's a real shame too as the band with masqeraders in costumes looked impressive from the little we saw. Although, like most Carnivals outside of Trini, there always seem to be more non-masquerders than masquerders in full costume. That is the very reason, why we believe the mud band and "School Daze", the new, hot J'Ouvert style body paint band are the main favorites on de road. We were lucky enough to at least catch Back to Basics truck on the home stretch giving the crowd one last good jump and wine. You know it's real action when you see the powder buss out like an atomic bomb in the street! We love it! So with some quick flashes to capture the main essence of d'road action, we linked up more friends of the Jungle and headed down to the Wet & Wild Last Lap fete at Killi's Kafe parking lot!
