On Sunday, December 18th, 2005 at the Holiday Inn Select, the 1st Annual Miss Caribbean Pageant took place... so you know Trini Jungle Juice had to take our viewers on the inside. The goal of the event is to promote young, talented, stylish, educated and beautiful Canadian Caribbean women. And the 12 contestants who graced the stage on the night surely exemplified this.

The MCs for the evening were Lil’ Red and Devo Brown, both of Toronto's premiere Hip-Hop and R&B station - FLOW 93.5FM. They did a great job in holding the crowd's attention, while keeping the show moving. The agenda was like most standard pagents, showcasing a Bikini/Swinwear, Individual Talent and Evening Wear presentation. As promised, the evening also consisted of live entertainment from UK Soca artist, SW Storm, who sang his theme song for the pageant, "Ladies." Young and energetic dance duo, 2BADD (Lamar and Shemar), gave the audience a very entertaining performance. Then Blu Soul wrapped things up as they sang R. Kelly's popular song, "I Believe I Can Fly," wishing the top 3 finalists good luck before the crowning.

Miss Natalie Boxill with roots from St. Lucia was crowned the 1st Miss Canada Caribbean. She also took the title of Miss Photogenic 2005.

The 1st runner-up went to Miss Lisa Boodhan with roots from Guyana and St. Lucia and the 2nd runner-up went to Miss Sherry Khan with roots from Trinidad and Tobago. The People's Choice Award 2005 went to Miss Lydia Patel with roots from Barbados and Trinidad & Tobago.

Honourable judges for the 2005 pageant were Sharon Hinds, Dave Smith, Marjorie Taffe, DJ Tricky Moreira and Alicia Sealey.

The promoters stated, "The Miss Canada Caribbean Pageant will be used as a stepping stone for young Canadian Caribbean women to showcase their heritage and what has forever shaped them into the person they have become." With that said, we know that the 2006 pageant can only get bigger and better! Registrations for 2006 officially opened as of Monday, December 19, 2005. Deadline for registration is August 31, 2006.
