Say what you will about PumpStation, but we have to hand it to these guys, they are bringing the party magic to Washington, DC. This time around the vibe wasn't "RAWKUS" (their annual event in March) it was more "RETRO... The Euphonic Odyssey". To put it less Latin... it was a musical journey in time.

First, Kurt Riley (The "Party Animal" of Fame FM, Jamaica) along with Dawg E Slaughter of the Xcaliber Sound System (RED 96.7 FM, T&T) were billed for RETRO; however, the Trinidad selector/artiste requested to be taken off the line up at the last minute to facilitate a date change for his album launch. PumpStation was understanding of the situation with Dawg E, and are working on having the maestro in DC in the near future. "Dawg a mi brethren…and if him haffi do a thing, which is best from a career stand point…mi all for it", said a PumpStation representative.

So, the man they called the "Party Animal", or more fittingly - "The Musical Taxi" - was charged with the responsibility of transporting the RETRO crowd. The Animal's tactical prowess was evident on the 'wheels of steel' very early. With several smooth transitional shifts in gear, the upbeat party crowd was seamlessly chauffeured through the eighties, nineties, and all the dance vibes from today. At one point the DJ had the crowd doing the "Shelly Belly" (and with good 'clutch' mixing and timing) while at the same time insisting that the "meatier" ladies "Tuckin in yuh Belly"... what a stress!!!!! We are pretty sure some of the ladies went home with an inch or two off the waistline.

Talking about ladies... there were a lot of sexy females at RETRO. It seems the ladies are drawn to the music of 'yesteryear'... or is it just the whole party vibe at PumpStation events.

Big up the PumpStation Crew... when is the next party... oh yeah, Homecoming wid Beenie Man. And what happen to the PumpStation Sound launch? A lot of people are waiting... TJJ Out.
