New Year's Eve Class Affair 2005
Date: Saturday 31st December 2005
Venue: Atlantis Pavilions, Toronto
Promoters: XCLuSV & Atlantis

Can you believe it, 2005 has reached its end. It's that time of the year again... out with the old and in with the new, shed bad habits (well, try to) and make those New Year's resolutions. Yes, good ole New Year's resolutions, which the majority of us seem to break within the first week of the New Year! We are only human right??!! And of course, there's always next year to try and get things right. While some Jungle Juice crew were ringing in the new year at tropical locations like Trinidad and Jamaica (lucky bastards), others were partying in hot spots like Miami and DC. Jungle Juice crew even reach as far as Egypt. As for us, we were holding things down in the Great White North... good ole Toronto.

After a nice dinner out, we brought in 2006 with some friends at an intimate house lime, and then wap wap, we touch down at Atlantis Pavilions at around 1:30am. It was the 3rd Annual New Years Eve Class Affair, and XLCuSV and Atlantis were showcasing the best in urban entertainment. For those of you that have never been to the Atlantis Entertainment Complex, it's actually one of Canada’s premier venues. We talking about partying 70 feet above Toronto’s Waterfront with T.O.’s skyline creating the ultimate backdrop. So one need not even worry about the ambience, it nice too bad!

We missed out on all of the VIP treatment and pampering having arrived after the midnight countdown. But, when we saw one smallie about to walk outside without her winter coat and shoes, all happy and well intoxicated, we knew folks were obviously having a ball. On the inside, there were about 4 or 5 different rooms catering to a spectrum of music genres, featuring some of the biggest DJs. You had your "Island Vibe" in the Zoots Lounge featuring the best of Reggae & Soca by DJs Court Jester, Chief and the D'Enforcas ... the "Retro Vibe" in the Nemos Room featuring Funk, New Jack and Ol School ... the "X.FLOW.SION" in the Atlantis Room featuring the 2005 FLOW 93.5FM Dream Team (Hollywood Rich, Mark Strong and Lil Red) on the deluge revolving dance floor ... and of course the "Urban VIP" in the Blu Lounge hosted by the Toronto Raptors rookie sensation Charlie Villanueva and his celebrity guests.

When we actually got upstairs to the VIP lounge, D'Bandit was on the set in the main room jammin' Soca, so we had to take a quick jump up and a wine for 2006 before we broke out de camera. It was a nice blend of crowd, and as always, it was cool to see familiar faces and friends of the Jungle. And seeing everyone all dressed up was a welcoming change from the regular 'dress to swear' party gear... like they said, "Class Affair!" Now we really liked the fact that folks were just having fun, not letting their exquisite outfits hold back their inhibitions. Heh, when we asked two different groups of lovely ladies for a picture and got the famous three-way kiss, all we could have said was, "Good gosh, Happy New Year!!!" For a minute it felt like an Austin Powers photo shoot!! ;-)

Folks partied up until the very last slow tune that played, and when they announced that the bar hours were extending beyond 2am (how they pulled that one, we don't know and don't care... hehe), the party was injected with another power surge of life! Bring sips!! Besides the little drama at the various coat checks at the end of the night for patrons, all was off to a great start for 2006. Thank goodness we had the hook ups for our coats.... so, hugs and kisses goodbye and it was homeward bound.

We would like to leave you with a quote to think about for 2006... "Every man dies, not every man really lives." -- William Wallace. Ponder on that for a minute. Life is too short not to enjoy it, right??!! Happy New Year folks!
