We were in the middle of a British heat-wave (no... really) and things were about to get hotter! We were down in the city with Busspepper for 29 - The Evolution. The location was Abacus Bar, close to the Bank tube station so convenient to get to, but if you were not drinking and decided to drive down like some (ah not callin names) yuh woulda ketch yuh nenen to find a park. Well that's what yuh get for wanting to party by the (central) Bank of England and the London Stock Exchange.

Anyway the line didn't seem as packed as previous parties and everything seemed to be moving smoothly. The club, as always, was right up – a swanky venue! If you happened to be 29 on the night and had your ID, the swankiness continued with free champagne. Hassan was upstairs serving up his usual delights.

Beside the usual line up of Kern from Hight Fidelity/Less ThanZero, and Lyndon and Spice of the Gladiators, this event featured Hypa Hoppa aka Hoppie! Yes Kwesi Hopkinson from Radioactive, now Program Director of new(ish) T&T radio station Red 96.7 FM touched down in London special for this. The Evolution was meant to take us back in time. To you an' me we know this was taking us back to when riddims like Pepperseed and Joyride ... artists like Super Cat and Shabba ... and tunes like "Scrape Up" and "Dangerous" use to mash up the dance. But some new recruits to the Busspepper dance (and to be fair – new to Trini fetes), get a tiefhead! Some office friends came down but were expecting some 80's classic pop and English sing-along! We never laugh so hard, but even so, they still had a ball.

The feedback on the night was generally good ... the BWEE crew get on bad (check that dutty wine... yuh know yuhself!), and plenty "fit birds" around. The only gripes we heard was that Hoppie was introduced too late and just when he had the crowd going, the party had to shut down. Steeeeups.

For those not able to make it, TriniJungleJuice.com was broadcasting live audio from the fete. If you were listening you woulda hear Hoppy big up Trinidad & Tobago hero goalkeeper Shaka Hislop by bringing back one from the kaiso archives- "Shaka Shaka!!"… den he come back on the mic and say when we were in the World Cup and Shaka in the goal he only have one thing to say, "Dem Doh Worry Me"... run de big Supercat and Heavy D tune!!! Session was nice everytime.

Whoooa – less than a month to Notting Hill Carnival…. Ah cyah waaaaait! UK TJJ out.
