Amnesia 06 ... lose your frame of mind! ISLANDpeople held their annual fete at Pier 1 on Sunday January 22nd. Doors opened at 4 PM and this rounds people not stickin’ when it comes to gettin' to fete early. We think the words “All Inclusive” might have something to do with this unusual occurrence.

Trini Jungle Juice arrived on location at about 5 PM (yeah, even we early too!!) and when we tell ya, de masses were just flowing in! On the inside, you could truly see the high level of effort that ISLANDpeople is known to put out in order to create an ambiance in sync with the theme of their event. Once again they have managed to out do themselves. The extensive use of fresh fruits and vegetables in the design of the welcome and food area was one such example. It really left you feeling as though you were in the Garden of Eden or Paradise.

Well enough talk about the food used in the décor. Lets check out the food we can actually sample. Which tent to begin with?? So many, and the food just looked so good at all of them. We tried various appetizers/cutters first, and then headed for the Italian Cuisine as a main course. We were definitely having a gourmet experience!

Okay, time to get another drink from the Premium bar and check out what other surprises awaited us in Paradise. While walking through the crowd, there seemed to be signs saying something about relax your mind... stress release zone or something. So you know we had to scope it out. In a room most quite and serene with a sweet scent in the air, were strategically placed bean bags. Trained staff were present explaining to curious onlookers what the whole concept was. After taking in a few words we realized it was more like an unwinding room geared towards patrons after the fete was over. TJJ's action now starting not unwinding, so we didn’t stick around there too long.

We still in search of the stage that will host the Entertainment Feast. Well people, as we land on Pier 1 main deck, that humongous stage couldn't help but capture our attention. Wowser!! Taking our view a little lower, you could see a massive crowd. This was a BIG fete for real!

Lets get into a little more detail about the Entertainment Fest. First up was Imij and Co. with Ghetto Flex. They opened things in a nice way and got the crowd moving. Denise “Saucy Wow” Belfon also appeared during their performance and got some heads turning with her antics and waistline movements. Sherwayne Winchester came on next. The two time Road March champ did some of his big 2006 hits including "Don’t Stop" which was a real crowd pleaser. We think what really got the crowd hype though, was when he dived into the crowd and did part of his performance there. Gerronimo!!

Next up was Machel Montano & Xtatik. With a reputation for raising a crowd's spirits, they never seem to fail. People got real energetic here. Machel was also joined by a Caribbean cast of guest artists. Trini artist Benjai, Bajan Soca Queen Allison Hinds, reggae sensation T.O.K, and T&T's very own new boy group Surge who performed their current hit "In Your Timing Girl." When we tell ya, the action was non stop! Now the Entertainment Fest wasn't over yet. Even though things were supposed to close off at 12 AM, big band Atlantik with Destra was still performing way after that time. They kept the vibe pumping and were joined by Maximus "The Gladiator" Dan.

Bearing in mind that we had to report for "cane cutting duty" - yes work, the next day, we decided to call it a night. As we departed from Paradise, hot soup was even being offered to patrons. TJJ really has to say that the standard of "All Inclusives" has really been taken to a new level. ISLANDpeople has yet for another time showed us why they are such successful party promoters.
