In the midst of the July 4th weekend celebrations, TJJ joined the rest of South FL to at Bene Fete. Yes we were still partying but this time with a purpose. With Jewelicious Promotions, University Fete and ISLANDPeople Miami at the helm, many of the players in the South FL party scene came together to pull off this benefit event on behalf of Jewel Deonarinesingh who is suffering from an advance stage of Leukemia. Jewel, who is twenty-two from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, was diagnosed with Chronic Anemia, a form of Leukemia, when she was just twelve years old.

Hoping to raise thousands of dollars on her behalf, they were able to gather the likes of Code 868, Bunji Garlin, Faye Ann Lyons, Ms Alysha and none other than Destra Garcia fresh from her Germany tour in support of the Soca Warriors and spreading Trini culture far and wide. The location was Mahi Temple in Miami. This was the first time TJJ had been to Mahi Temple, we think Mahi is Yiddish for Massive cause this place not small at all. Though they were able to draw a significant crowd to the event the shear size of the place, there was no worry about overcrowding ;-)

The night started off with Code 868. Front singers Leon Coldero, Roger George and Edwin Eddie Charles took the stage to start off the performances, but unfortunately they experienced some sound problems early in the set and had to take a brief pause. Eventually they returned to the stage and and gave it their all. Throughout the night, hostess Giselle D'Wassi One joined some of the artists in their performances with a very effective result and nice display of showmanship.

After Code 868 left the stage we were all graced by the presence of one Miss Faye Ann Lyons, lawdhavehismercy that girl sexy!!! She was joined on stage by Ms Alysha singing their popular 2k6 hit "Party." The show was in full swing now and things just went to more heights when Bunji himself took the stage doing a duet with Faye Ann. He however took time out to speak his mind directly to some folks who showed up asking bout guest list He had to remind them that this was Bene Fete and there was no freeness tonight as we were all there for a good cause, fired up by that he went into his smash 2006 hit "Bomb Song." The show was closed out by Destra, peas-and-rice that gurrrrrrl nice!!! Giving her usual high energy performance, she was joined by Giselle and eventually the real star of the night, Jewel. The night fittingly ended with most of the performers back on stage singing hits such as Bob Marley's One Love.
