Red Ants in Blue Range. This All Inclusive event took place on Saturday 4th February. Trini Jungle Juice arrived just after midnight to Blue Range after rounding Presentation All Inclusive in Chagaunas and The Wave in Maraval.

As a patron of the Blue Range Tennis Court fetes from de early 90's, we have to start off by saying... "Dat is ah 5 outta 5 TJJ Mask fete!"

It's like an annual pilgrimage where the air is now filled with nostalgia... We talking finding a park on somebody lawn, halfway in a drain, or ramp up ah side walk on de Valley main road (fuh those who come late)... and de night now start. As de music get louder, de pum pum shorts seem to get shorter and we pace picking up.

Unfortunately, we have to talk scarce commodities. Like de 5 or so Lancer Evolution VII it have in Trinidad, this party well coveted but can only be enjoyed by a few. TJJ have to extend a special thanks to the Blue Range Committee and Red Ants for allowing us to share de experience with You. Thing to note; this party was well organized. There was security inside out, the gates were well setup and once you walk in it was like a Bazaar... plenty tent busy with activity. Just browsing de tents was an experience. We talking countless Bars, equipped with all liquor and chaser yuh could think of that couldn't done... and food fuh years... doubles, jerk, bbq and all kinda chicken... if yuh couldn't find food, is because yuh was too drunk to realize yuh was already eating!

As far as de crowd goes, we talking usual Blue Range vibe, the years have changed names and faces, but the atmosphere is still de same. In 2006, we guess de best way to describe it is "TRIBE"... All those Ex Fatima, Convent, Providence, Holy Name, CIC, QRC, St. Anthony's... fraternities all present... which adds more of that reunion vibe. Friendly atmosphere, easy enough to move around and plenty drinking. Well this party is not about the performances like so many other fetes... so we didn't even realize until later that we done miss performances by the sexy Destra and the gladiator, Maximus Dan. Still, it had DJs Hi Fidelity/Less Than Zero creating some background ambiance for de night with stand out moments when Hypa Hoppa apply de defibrillator to de party wit some calling’s to de TRIBE and Soca Warriors posse’s. At about 2:30 AM however, we did manage to catch de two time Road March Champ Shurwayne Winchester. He put on a spectacular performance raising de level of de party.

Not too long after though, the DJ had to cut the music. Despite the huge crowd still partying away, the fete was carded to end at 3 AM. Folks however were lucky as Tassa and Rhythm Sections carried on the entertainment for about another half an hour. Wine-ing and chipping along to the pulsating sounds, patrons got the opportunity to grab another drink or two while some chose to grab a bite to eat. TJJ followed suit and as the hour approached 4 AM, we decided to buss the tape and head on home. It was a fun filled and enjoyable event, and we are always glad to be present for that appointment. Get yuh ticket fuh next year!
