We're calling this one spin-sanity! It was ah frenzy, pure craziness, madness, scandalous... the only thing missing was more rudeness! Caribbean culture at it's very best with about 500 people blowing their whistles, waving a glow stick and whirling their bandannas and the Trini boys down under showed a glimpse of things to come in Australia.

The Sydney massive took control as they responded to the sounds of Soca music. The DJ's played a cross section of chunes and the early sessions focused on more of the classic tracks like Square One's "Aye Aye Aye" and "Bazodee" and some big hits from Rupee such as "Till Morning" and "What Happens in the Party" but the sound killer was the ever so sweet "Pump Me Up" from Edwin Yearwood & Krosfyah. The ladies were singing along and then the stage was packed, dancefloor ram and chune selection tight as this fete sell off. The DJ wanted to know if anybody wanted to go home with Biggie Irie's "Nah Going Home" but the answer was no as the music was "So Sweet" from Lorenzo.

People were treated with free straw hats, lip balm, key chains and t-shirts courtesy of Malibu Rum (the official sponsors of the night) and they did not hold back as straw hats could be seen floating around like a sea of sugar cane workers harvesting next year's crop. And speaking of Crop Over there was a Bajan posse which stormed this fete ready for the parkway as yellow and blue flags were in the distance.

With Malibu cocktails in hand, whistles around your neck and glow stick in hand it was time for the carnival girls in costumes (direct from TRIBE's Mas Camp) to hit the stage. All I could hear was Machel's "Craziness" and then the lights man cut it dark and the anticipation grew with the MC asking for more noise, it felt like we were in a J'Ouvert setting with whistles piercing the ear drums. Then the anticipation grew as five dancers approached the stage with a huge SPIN D MUSIC banner and jumping fittingly, to the TnT 2006 Road March, "Band of the Year". The DJ had it looping, "We reach the stage we warming up", the crowd in a frenzy and then the loop released, the strobes kicked in and the confetti man like Rambo on a machine gun sprayed out 10 lbs of paper, cotton balls and streamers to the astonishment of the patrons. Boy, for a second I thought it was the prelude for a grand entrance for a Machel Montano appearance (maybe in the years to come)! But the chune for the night was definitely "Frenzy" from Rupee, man it sell off.... bullet.... bullet.... bullet.

The carnival atmosphere was certainly there and the boys put on an outstanding show. They set the standard high for fetes and we can't wait to see what they are going to follow up with for the next event... word has it a bubble machine might run things! Big ups goes out to the management at Jackson's on George for the venue, Malibu Rum and Tribe Mas Camp for making the event another successful one.
