Wha' gwan? Dis Caublasian telling de tales of Jamaica Independence Weekend and the hypest party of de year (and this would be without exaggeration!) Greaves! Now for the non-yardies lemme explain. Greaves is de grand daddy of de all-inclusive party. Just about every old school partier has a head full of memories at Greaves. Also John Greaves is known for his philanthropy, to date he has donated almost US $1million to charity from his party proceeds. Cyaan see how many other promoters do that! CONGRATS SIR! Anyhow, dun know when it was announced that this was going on Appelton weekend, we did have to deh deh pon we teet! (Just for old times sake). And it did not disappoint.

Greaves was as usual a day time beach fete. The only thing that could have made it better is if it returned to its original location by Ochi (please please please!!). So yes, de review. We did get dere when de rain did fall, but is a good ting is a beach party and people come dressed accordingly, so we neva did hide unda de tent dem too long. People of course did lock up unda de tent of them choice. Some unda de daiquiri, some under de mix drink. Me always walk wid me belly, so me did lock up wid de ribs. LEMME TELL YOU! No bady cyaan provide food like a Greaves. And wid food tent all ova de place, you nuh haffi wait more dan 2 seconds fe get sum'm. Me did map out every tent, Ribs, chicken wing, soup, corn pork, fry fish ... (getting hungry?).

So yeh, likkle into de party Maddix go and throw down some appelton banners and start mek slip and slide. It go from one to bout 10 people at a time, and dat hilarity had everyone dancing in de rain! BIG BIG ratings to Sparkles Disco, dem did pull out every kind of water wet, rain come down, in de river song you coulda ever think of while de rain a pour and people a play like 4 year olds. DAT! Is a challenge to de youngah sound systems, can you build rain wet vibes like dat? Me nuh know. If you did get to de party afta de rain. Whe you fraid of? You de witch in wizard of oz? Next time nuh wait!

Dred, me haffi seh great idea on Appelton's part to have de party mugs, cause them tings are much more convenient than trying fe hold onto de likkle tiny drink cups. Massive food portions, massive drink portions, all me can seh, is me happy me hotel did just next door. De rain did stop likkle later and de party vibes did continue fe build as the "Too good fe reain wet" people started showing up and of course had to catch up wid we. Music start like, and everyone slippers tek off in de sand. Me cyan seh which Greaves session me evah been to and everyone go home wit dem shoes. It may never happen. Wear ones you nuh mind missin'.

Me tink she me did see almost all of my friends from yesteryear at de bashment. Memories man. In anycase, de party extend well past when it was supposed fe end. Dis one had too much vibes, too much sexiness (bway sorry fe some people relationships), EXCELLENT food, unlimited drinks (and bway .. dem bartendah's fasssssssssssssssssssssss) - Party of de summer? Nah dred, party ah de year!
