Long time we ent fete like this!!!

For real, is ah long time we haven't been to Bayside Hut ... it's a long time we've been to a fete that promise live performances and the artists actually showed; not only showed up, but real mash up the dance too!! The occasion this time was MUG Fest brought to us by Rambo Promotions in association with Island Elite, so we have to thank dem for the change of venue and mixing up the usual party recipe.

We got back to our bad habits and did not arrive until after 1:30AM, so thing were buzzing already when we pulled into the parking lot. But credit to the promoters who kept the line moving, so in two two's we were on the inside and checking out the scenes. First order of business was filling up the mug that we were handed by the door. We had to opt for ah rum and coke since our usually was not available at the all inclusive bar, but it was no scene cause they kept the mugs filled and spirits high. De jam ent called "Mug Fest" for no reason... All Inclusive baby!! So all drinkers were likin demselves, but TJJ doh drink on de job..... NOOOOOTTT!!! Seriously, we had like one drink! ;-)

There is a new look to Bayside Hut these days, the bar that was in the middle of the deck has been removed and pushed to the sides, effectively creating an extension to the dance floor under the hut out to the deck. We like it, as it allows for more room and no more narrow entrances to get into the hut where the performances take place.

Normally when you think of live performances outta TnT, soca comes to mind one time. So what some partygoers considered to be ah bold move by the promoters to have a line up of 3 of Trinidad and Tobago's hottest reggae stars, we considered to be ah nice change of pace. Million Voice, Isasha and Prophet Benjamin took the stage in that order each raising the level of consciousness for all within earshot. Having only seen Isasha and Prophet Benjamin briefly at 51 Degrees (Trini), this was almost like seeing them for the first time and the TJJ South FL crew was quite impressed. They all gave very spirited performances, especially considering that Isasha was rumored to have been quite ill back at the hotel. You can hear music from these artists and more on our Reggae Music page.

Folks came out looking and feeling rootsy on the night, it was like a doulga dread convention, yes! Yeah man, ah good time was had by all at this fete with ah conscious vibe... who woulda thought? TJJ dat's who!! Rambo, thanks for allowing TJJ to pass thru. Bless.
