Did somebody say Vegemite or Reggae-Mite?

Well the Trini boys Down Under were at it again with SPIN D MUSIC's first Friday night fete. The crew were apprehensive since it was winter time in Sydney, Australia and Fridays are reserved for the after work drinks lime but......... the massives came out of hibernation!

At 10:00 pm the vibe was pumping as the first wave of people infiltrated the club and as midnight approached the second wave of party goers overpowered door staff, like a tsunami ready for the taking. The fete was packed solid with an estimated 550 patrons crossing Luna Lounge nite club at Jacksons on George.

As usual, the entertainment value was present with the first ever "Open Mic Challenge, Winner takes All" for the best lyricist chanting on a dancehall riddim. The instrumental of choice from the selectas was Baby Cham's Ghetto Story and the yardie called "Krisafyre" representing Jamaica & Australia was the obvious crowd favourite. Nuff gun salutes went up in the air as he was crowned the winner.

Next followed the search for SPIN D MUSIC's first ever Miss Reggaemite. Selected from the panel of DJs this was the gyal who could bubble and flex dutty wine style. Aye aye aye... sound the big chune, "Bend your back and lift your head up, Turn side way, lift your leg up, Bend your face and twist it up, And turn true side like you know you fed up (Whoa), Back it up, cock it up, my girl dutty wuk." Lord have mercy too much talent and a congrats went out to Zaffrone, the girl from Brixton for cocking it back (listen to interview).

Large up goes to the guest DJ Zio from the South Love Vibration Sound in Italy, SPIN D MUSIC Crew and the posse from T.O. who made it known they were missing Caribana and Dr. Jay on the Lakeshore. Big ups to the official sponsors Malibu Rum for the banner and promotional materials. Everyone received a complimentary keychain, lip balm, t-shirt or sun glasses to make this truly the Ultimate Caribbean Experience!!
