Apart from the snow and cold weather, it was that time of de year again; and with Dr. Jay's Annual Big People Parang (BPP) Show & Dance underway, everyone was in ah Caribbean Christmas spirit. Held at Ella's Banquet Hall, show time was 7pm sharp, and yuh know if yuh didn't reach by 6:30pm for de latest is pressure to find ah seat! If you never got the memo.... BPP is a sold out event every year, and with a track record for NOT moving on island time, it's hard luck for those who reach late – standing room only! Everyone comes with their daddy, mommy, uncle, tantie and children to enjoy this experience.... and some ah dem even come with somebody else's family because it's so good! (lol)

TJJ arrived early tonight because we know d’ scene and didn't want to miss anything at'tall. When ah tell yuh people was dressed “NICE” ... wayyyy!!! It was like we all reached into the back of our closets to find de best ah de best, because de atmosphere was very SLEEK and SEXY! The night's live entertainment included veteran Soca Parang artists Scrunter and Bindley B. direct from Trinidad, alongside Toronto’s favourites, Los Amigos and Moses Evolution. Playing all de right chunes were Dr. Jay de Soca Prince and Soca Sweetness with Jai of Chin 100.7FM as the gracious host for the evening.

From the time everyone was seated, the vibes were already in full effect. The Los Amigos band had the crowd movin’ in their seats to ah point where people had to stand up and shake ah leg. Bindley B. then performed, carrying on de sweet vibe, but once Parang King Scrunter came onto the stage, the crowd was in ah frenzy! We too couldn't stop singing along to all his big chunes. Now yuh know Scrunter is ah rhel ladies man, so he started callin' out to “Anita” and then shouted out “Leroy”. “Drinkin' ah Rum” and “Lookin' for ah Wife” the whole night, yuh could tell Scrunter was enjoying himself. People automatically made their way to the dancefloor, and he gracefully sang alongside those who were feelin’ de groove. Towards the end of his performance, de hunger was kickin in, so all Scrunter could say was, “Ah want ah piece ah pork for meh Christmas!!" Areeeba Areeeeba!!!!!

This party made us feel as if we were in Sweet TnT!!! Serious talk!! And with pastelles & hops n' ham on the menu.... need we say more??!! All we needed to wash it down was some Punch-a-Crème, yes! ;-) Small ting, because the beverages at the bar compensated for that! All in all, we had ah very good time, no complaints. The atmosphere was different from de usual fete scene and we think that's what made it even more special .... it was like everyone was part of one big family! All ah we is one faaaamily!!!!!

Once again, special thanks to Dr. Jay and his family for making us feel like part of their family!

Mizz Kayz for the TJJ fam
