Yes crew so now it's Carnival Saturday, we think, yes it's Saturday!! Normally when yuh come for Carnival the days are for rest and recovery and the nights are for partying. Nowadays the day fete action starts from Monday and goes straight through the week. This year we have a new and welcome addition to the day fete line up, well maybe new venue anyway :-) The Hislop brothers, Shaka, Kona, Kali and along with Freddy were having a lil 'shindig' of their own. If memory serves us correctly this started a few years ago as a lil bring yuh bottle house thing in West Moorings that we just stumbled upon and was always a helluva lime. Over time it has grown into Eclipze and moved to a beautiful location in the hills of Maracas with a very scenic view from The North Deck. Actually, saying that the place had a very scenic view may just be the understatement of the year! What a beautiful island this TnT is and we are sure proud to call it home.

Now believe us when we tell you this dance ain't for everybody, cause tickets was hard to come by. Kona himself did not have any extras the night before the event, but you know how TJJ do, we up in there! We must say it was a real change of pace to be in a Carnival party with a reasonably sized crowd, real nice vibes. Shaka Hislop, who landed in the country moments earlier after a game, arrived about 7pm and blessed the mic. Shaka, the man who made Sweden cry in Germany 2006, thanked everyone for coming out and said he wants Eclipze to remain around this same size. We with you on that Shaka! Everyone dressed up in dey dan dans, the food was on point, drinks flowing nice with no wait at the bar and of course the ladies looking finger lickin'good :-) It was just a cool scene all around, the perfect way to spend a Carnival Saturday afternoon into evening.

So we can't just rave about a party jus so, without some specifics as to why we like it so much. Who knows, maybe it was the atmosphere created by the limited quantity of tickets, more of an emphasis on quality than quantity. Maybe it was the ladies walking around with the trays laden with food; Mini Chicken roti, Cassava Fingers, Jerk Chicken wings, and if we're not mistaken... we saw egg rolls amongst other treats. You could have the ladies with trays bring you a drink if you so requested though your time at the bar was very short, so why bother. The DJ kept his eye on the crowd and made sure they kept moving especially for the last hour or so it was pace. Seems like the concept of a day fete is lost on some folks cause even though the party was slated to end at 8pm at 7pm people now falling in, but say what is Trini and Carnival is ah bacchanal. And of cause all expectations were exceed as the party was still in full swing at 9PM.

The party kept going even as the first shuttles started arriving to take folks back to their cars that were parked at Moka. This was another brilliant idea, as it was a real ease up on traffic on the already narrow North Coast road. The pre and post fete socializing in the shuttles was not a bad thing either :-) By the time everyone filed out into the waiting shuttles for the return trip, you felt like you was just in a fete with all your friends. Large up all the Saints crew in the house! So we putting this one on the top five of the Fetalotathon® events for sure. Special thanks to the Hislops for having us, and we can't wait for this one next year!
