The Fetealotathon® continues and it's J'Ouvert time again folks, as the French would say it "jour ouvert". Is mud, oil, powder.... we "Dutty"!! Well, in this case the Trini Pulse (TP) Crew had red water paint, so it's all good. Sunday 18th February the TP Crew had their 4th Insomniacs J'Ouvert. Bajans, Japanese, English foreigners fuh so!!! The meeting point for this band was the National Stadium - wasn't that where Trini Pulse held their Crew's Aid event??? Hmm, like they have shares dey boy.
Before all the chipping and drinking and gallons and gallons of paint, TP organized a pre-party for their patrons. So let's see, the package included: free drinks, a cup, a whistle, a jersey, a bandana, food, paint, security, music truck, rhythm section..... Insomniacs 2k8, TJJ dey already!! Hehe. Back to the event; got ah little carried away there. Insomniacs 40ft music truck was on the scene, blaring Soca music pon Soca music, whilst more "J'Ouverians" piled in. This was around 3:30 am. There was also body and face painting. Socializing was definitely not a problem; everyone had friendly smiles.... alcohol to blame? I think not??? Nice vibes man.
Okay, we ready, J'Ouvert time, and what better to get us started off, Tassa??? Yes, Tassa!! We 'tassad' our way to the stadium gate, where after the DJ did his thing on the music truck. We chipped from the Stadium, wined along the Foreshore, and waved on Mucurapo Road. As daylight hit, d'boss KMC, who was the guest Soca artiste, jumped on top the truck singing his big Soca 2007 hit.... Yah, Yah Yah, Yah, Yah, Yah, Yah, Yah, Yah, Yah! Run d big track "Take Over".
We returned to the Stadium lil tipsy, sun in we eye, paint from head to toe, still dancing and chipping. Time for a little 'alco' curer or as we Trini's would say, "cut head". Corn soup, doubles, bake & shark oh gosh bwoy, you could ah get 2nd, 3rds, 4ths, 6ths, realll food. You just might've been a little thirsty after because drinks ran out ah little early --- oh gosh there were more people this year than the last. All in all, we were contented and happy.
This has been another fantastic, well organized, punctual, safe and definitely delicious J'Ouvert from Insomniacs. TJJ will continue to say, Trini Pulse crew Big Up. We were most welcomed, thank you. 'Til 2k8 - "Doh 'fraid to wine on meh cuz ah dutty."
