Date: Tuesday 26th June 2007 Location: Nemo. Trinidad Click on thumbnails to see the big picture/entire gallery We arrived at 8:30 PM and found Nemo buzzing with activity. There was a mass amount of media present taking photos, getting interviews and generally setting up for the main feature of the night.
Close to 9 PM, an announcement was made notifying all that the presentation was about to begin. Folks quickly gathered inside and the nights activities soon began. Taking to the stage first were good friends, well wishers, family and one fellow artist who all had kind words to say about the man of the hour. After that the artist that goes by the name Laurenzo Gonzalez, graced the stage.
Laurenzo, who is no stranger to the entertainment industry, was born in Venezuela but lived his entire life in Trinidad. As a youth with a love for music, he grew up loving and enriching his life with Calypso and Latin. This combination produced a unique style of music which is classed as "Socaton", a fusion of Soca and Reggaeton.
Laurenzos first single entitled "Muevete (Move Yourself)" was envisioned to be the perfect party/club song with a melodious blend of Soca, Meringue, Raga-Soca and Reggaeton. Laurenzo has performed at different nightclubs all over T&T as well as in countries such as Venezuela, Costa Rica, Margarita and the US (Oregon). However, his most memorable moment of all was his first public solo performance at Uncle Sams bar in Maracas Bay. This was when he conquered his fear of the spotlight and knew that music should be his life.
Laurenzo who also had some words to say, briefly describing the making of the video, reinforced some of the words said by previous presenters and also thanking all those who made the video possible. After that it was time to present to the public, the release of his latest music video titled "Don't Change".
The night didn't end here as Laurenzo later put on a live performance for the audience. Afterwards patrons even got an extra treat ... yup the fun wasn't over yet! Kimberly, the sexy girl from the video then came on stage to perform an Arabian dance. Good gosh, that girl has some talent!
So folks be sure to check out Laurenzos new track (audio) and video "Don't Change" right here on TJJ. ==================================== |
