In light of Machel Montano's success thus far, TJJ was proud as punch to be front and center once again to give you the 411 on The Official NYC Album Release Party for his latest CD titled "The Book of Angels" at Jay-Z's world famous 40/40 night club in Manhattan.
As usual, ehem.... TJJ arrived early to scope out the scene. Most of the guests were sipping on cocktails or champagne while milling about chit chatting. Apparently everyone got the dress code memo because the ladies were sexy chic and the fellas donned blazers with crisp button down shirts. The party did not really get into gear until it was announced that undisputed king of Soca would be arriving. It was then the music volume went up and the wining commenced.
At around 9:45pm, the man of the hour arrived in style. He hopped out of a white stretch limo with a big smile, looking like he was ready, ready to partay!! He was greeted by congratulatory applause, hugs and kisses from some of the ladies and Grey Goose sitting on ice. Not to mention all the camera crews following his every movement. Now that's the way you do it son! LOL. After the paparazzi got their shots, and a few interviews in the VIP area, Machel mingled with the crowd then announced that he was ready to get this party started and set it off after singing a couple of songs from the album. And you know "Jumbie" was one of them! Throughout the evening, Rhythm International and System Lords International (S.L.I) did a nice job in holding down the 1s and 2s. Large up Fire Kyle, John Pro and all crew and crew.
Approaching midnight, horrid thoughts of Monday morning work flashed in our minds, so we decided to zip up our coats to brace the cold and head on home. We gave Machel a dap, leaving him to enjoy the end of the biggest weekend of his life (thus far). Special thanks to Simon, Rachel and the entire Antilia Events team for hosting this event, and the hospitality extended to Trini Jungle Juice.
