We Ready!... We Reaaaaddy... an we goin’ down d’road.......... straight to the Kool Haus! Now dat all man jack back from TnT Carnival 2K7 and feelin real Jumbie cause not one Soca fete on d’scene, this was the most anticipated fete of the year so far, apart from DCAL XII, and it would be the las lap of all las laps.... and we ready!

Of course we all know by now that this is one jam to reach early o’clock with advance tickets sold out, and no chance of getting one at the door unless you were ready to pay scalper prices...Yes we said scalper prices... you were ammmm S.O.L!!! TJJ was on the inside in no time, camera charged and ready to go! As always the first stop is to reacquaint yourself with the bartenders so that when time for drinks later, service is fast and efficient not to mention on point!

Resident DJ MarXman and new comer to the KOS family, Soca Sweetness, took turns in warming up the crowd with all kind of sweet Soca tunes leaving room for Dr. Jay to turn up the temperature full blast on the DJ set. We think Jay was transported back to TnT cause he must have wheeled Machel Montano's "Jumbie" bout 10 times – PLUS.... the KOs family all decked out in there “We Ready” t-shirts took to the front of the stage and did de Jumbie dance. Well yes, we don’t think anyone has EVER seen Dr. Jay breakout so.... Jus Smile Nah!

Performances started around 1am and first up was Naya George who actually replaced Shurwayne Winchester last minute in the line up (unfortunately the Government of Trinidad & Tobago had Shurwayne in India & Dr. Jay was nice enough to offer refunds for those who were ammm..... lets say perturbed, but Kool Haus was ram out anyways!) Naya gave an outstanding performance but it was when he sang his collaborated tune with Soca Diva Destra Garcia, "Last Lap" was when the crowd really went into a frenzy and de jump up crew in what we call the “Soca Mosh Pit” made sure that the crowd went “down dee road” - whether is was really north, south, east or west! LOL.

Next up was 2006 Synergy Soca Star Fireball singing his tunes "Want I Want" and “No Chorus”, and soon after his performance was "Caribbean Girl" herself, Nadia Batson. Not only is she a talented song writer but the girl can sing! Belting out her hit tunes “My Land” and of course her big hit for 2006, “One Island”, this is certainly one up and coming artist to keep an eye out for in the Soca scene. The vibe eased off a little when groovy 2007 Groovy Soca Monarch winner Biggie Irie (representing Barbados) came on stage to perform his hit tune “Nah Going Home”. It was amazing to hear the entire venue singing along to the chorus and it really only gave fetegoers a chance to take a small breather for the next artist Maximus Dan.

Now just imagine the whoooollllleeeee ah Kool Haus chanting.... ”I am ah Socccaaaa Warrior... win or lose I am ah fighter” .. people on stage stomping up d place and the crowd jumpin up an down to those words. Insane! We don’t think that song ("Fighter") will ever lose momentum! Also performing big big tunes such as "Flag Invasion", "Soca Train", "Building Shake" and everyone’s favourite "Order", it is almost a toss up of who really stole the show that night. The final performance was none other than 2K7 International Soca Monarch winner, the artist formerly known as Iwer George. Yes, Mashing Up Fete is his new stage name, and we have to admit that he mash up de fete! His big tune “We Reach” ... mash up! “Water"... mash up and ammm people get real wet too (right Ms Saucy Bajan lol - pics 215 to 217). And of course, “Fete After Fete” mash up!

Well yes. If you didn't dress to sweat, well you were now a hot n sweaty fetegoer cause Kool Haus was on Fiiiiirrreerrrrrrr! And on top of all dat, Umba of Matismela Sound come on stage and buss ah serious Reggae session, and we all know dat when Carnival done – we luv we Reggae, so doh even front! Vibes was sweet it was well pass some godly hour due to the time change and it didn't look like anyone was ready to leave.

Well TJJ’s hungry belly finally got the best of us and we rolled out of there some time after 4am, only to find out corn soup man run outta bowls!!! What de @##!!! We still managed to buy 3! LOL. Much thanks to Dr. Jay and the KOs family for always showing TJJ luv. Next year fuh sho!

TRW x2
