Date: Saturday 9th June 2007 Location: 547 Keller Ave. Elmont, NY Promotions: SocaWeb, VP Records Click on thumbnails to see the big picture/entire gallery The weather was a bit overcast and cool for a poolside party but you know Trini's, nuttin stoppin de fete! TJJ linked up with the posse and headed out to Long Island for SocaWeb's Annual All-Inclusive event. We arrived around 7pm. Turns out most folks had the same idea because we were struggling for parking spaces all at the same time. NY again! Even out in the burbs, parking is still an issue. Humph. We noticed a food truck parked in front of the house. Turns out Uncle Toyo was at it again! Hurrah! Listen folks, if Uncle Toyo is in the fete then the cuisine is a guaranteed hit. This may have been the first time that TJJ did not think of hitting the bar first! LOL The event was also sponsored by VP Records who were promoting their latest release of Soca Gold 2007. Everyone was greeted upon entry with a photo opp with the SocaWeb/VP Records backdrop.... celebrity style. Heh heh. Surely, that must have made everyone feel extra special. Especially the ladies. Fellas they went all out, ah hope you know. On the inside, we chipped along to the pulsing beats compliments DJ's Supreme Team and Goodfellas. Good job guys! Food first of course. There was Indian, Chinese and Creole cuisine to satisfy whatever your pleasure and the bar was stocked with nothing less than favorite top shelf brands. You don't have to ask, yes Uncle Johhnie, Mother Goose and Sir Henny were present! Ahem, now for those of you who have never experienced a poolside SocaWeb event, we have to inform that we can no longer enjoy the beauty of the decorated water feature because some drunky munkys decided to go swimming!!! Now, people be reasonable, it's a poolside party, not a pool party. The new feature is a gazebo style dancefloor strategically built to cover 75% of the pool. Genius idea. Of course, every year, including this one, the drunky munkys try to break it down with the bacchanal! Lawd, de pretty lights an dem started tuh pop! Amidst all that drama, Caribbean TV and Video 1 were among several of the camera crews present checking out the scene and interviewing random folks. VP Records had tons of giveaways while the people enjoyed the merriment. Don't front, allyuh like free ting! As the evening progressed, the music had everyone in a wining frenzy as drinks continued to flow and the menu changed to Uncle Toyo's Notorious Corn Soup. Suddenly there was a line! Kudos to Uncle Toyo!!! The event was top notch. Big up Sheldon. Thanks for having TJJ. We are looking forward to the next event! Rae... holding tings down in NYC! |
