Lawd, I hate to say it but, The Base is not one of my favorite spots. But Vincy's Zoelah was in the building so yuh know TJJ had to be up in dat!

As usual parking was a major headache, but we finally found a spot. Well not really... we paid the gas station attendant to watch de ride... $10!! Only in Brooklyn... big stueps. As soon as we walked it was like gwala-ville ... hmph, some of the outfits we saw in there were ah bit questionable. Not surprising! We will be starting our Fashion Do's and Don'ts on the TJJ Jungle Jabber™ blogs soon. You've been warned, right nice.

Anyway, we settled in and mingled amongst the crowd. On the one's and two's, Natural Freaks was ripping it up as usual along with Young Maddy. The reggae and soca was jamming hard! After a lil' two chip and a wine we headed to the bar for some apple juice. Hee hee. Then show time! Vibesman Redman was the host with the most. Kamau and Fafa hit the stage with their hits backed by the Request Band and the crowd was primed and ready for Zoelah. She looked very urban chic complimented by her fabulous red boots (Le Petite Juice loves her some boots so we must mention them). The crowd response was thunderous when she set it off with "Fly Away" and her rendition of Alicia Keys' "No One".

Then finally, big chune... "Go Down Low"!!! "Ah want yuh jook an go down low!!!!" As you can see from the gallery, a certain ahem "petite" TJJ member (photo) could not focus on the job at hand as she was busy going down low.... LOL! Zoelah's performance was fantastic. She did an excellent job! The crowd wanted an encore, so she came back and ripped it again. I had a sweater on and was a bit hot because you already know The Base is the ultimate sweat box, so my jook wasn't really too low! ;-)

Next up to close the show, was Kevin Lyttle ("Turn Me On") backed by two African dancers. He gave us a little bit old and new hits. I don't think I have ever seen Kevin Lyttle wine that much, but hey the crowd was eating it up.

Okay, so this time it was worth coming out to The Base. Big up Foreign Accent and Artists United for having us. Until next time, honey bunches of oats!
