As the sweet scent of summer is almost in the air, fete-go'ers are gearing up for another Soca Summer. To kick things off, everyone was meeting Dr. Jay and the KOS family on the farm at Palazzo nightclub for the much anticipated GYAL FARM fete. This was the first time ever that this concept was being held in Toronto after being done ONLY in Trinidad and New York. So ladies, we hope you made your checklist because the TJJ crew is saying:- Daisy dukes - check .. Straw hats - check .. Boots - check!! Fellas organize your over-all's and plaid shirts because "We meetin' on de faaaaarm.. de GYAL FARM.. we goin' faaaaarmin'!!!!"

Talk of excitement for this fete was circulating months prior to the actual date, so Trini Jungle Juice made sure to arrive extra early to get a few drinks in hand (of course) and make sure we didn't miss any action ah'tall! The doors opened just after 10pm with a line full of vibes til' around the corner. And even though the lineup of DJ's and artists were already fulfilling, the KOS family still wanted to show their people ongoing love and appreciation by having the first 100 ladies in the GYAL FARM dress code enter for FREE and the fellas in the straw hats and plaid shirts got $5 off before 11pm!

Now on the inside, the building was decorated in "farm" décor with haystacks on stage and a very artistic backdrop of a barnyard! It had me sayin', "Wait nah is straw I really have in my hand here??!! Ah really farming!!!" (see pic) *lol* The bess part though was, for the first time in the history of Soca fetes a REAL MECHANICAL BULL was on the farm. Yup, that's what I said, A Mechanical Bull!!! Upon arrival, ladies were linin' up by the dozens to ride the bull and some handled the ride well, while others didn't!! *lol* It looked like everyone wanted to 'big it up' for this fete as the doctor prescribed because about 98% of the fete-go'ers were wearing very unique straw hats. The turnout was incredible, and for the most part, everyone was dressed in farm attire making you feel as though you entered farm country! Yeeeeeeehaaaaaw!

Sweet chunes played for the night and endless vibes were brought to us by Jester (X-Caliber Int'l), marXman (Always On Point), Soca Sweetness (Your Source For Sweet Music) and Dr. Jay de Soca Prince (2 time Int'l & Stylus Soca DJ of the Year). Holding down the mic and maintaining their usual hype were mc's E Man and Dirty Dez (both of the KOS Family), alongside Umba D'Shepherd (direct from Trinidad). The music was very diverse which hit the right spot for each party-go'er ... song after song, chant after chant, they continued to jump and wave with nothing but faces full of enjoyment!

Now we couldn't possibly be at GYAL FARM without having the 3rd Place International Soca Groovy Monarch '08 winner's present .... KERWIN DU BOIS and SHAL MARSHALL came on stage in their "cowboy" attire tellin' the crowd, "Let's get ready to round up dem gyal right now!! Line up! Line dem up!!!" As the ladies screamed and called out for more, they continued to mash up the stage with their lyrics from popular 2k8 soca hit "Gyal Farm"!! Patrice Roberts and Zan were supposed to also perform alongside Kerwin and Shal, but unfortunately due to flight delays, they were not able to make it into Toronto. However, they were considerate enough to call into Toronto's #1 urban radio station, FLOW 93.5 during Dr. Jay's Soca Therapy show that runs every Sunday from 6-9pm. You could hear the disappointment in their voices for missing their flight, as they both stated how much they wanted to perform for the people in Toronto. The situation was beyond their control, but the TJJ crew has faith that they will definitely make up for it, so there is no need to worry!! In Jay We Trust!! smile

The night continued on with flags in the air, and as always, waistline's swaying from side to side. Many braveheart's still continued linin' up for the bull ride as other's looked on in awe! What a sight it was indeed! Without a doubt EVERYONE had fun as they chipped through the building and out the door. GYAL FARM TORONTO was definitely a success all thanks to Dr. Jay and the KOS cowboys!! *lol*

One last thing before we head out ... for all those sexy men and women who came dressed in full "Gyal Farm" attire, there will be a PRIZE for the best dressed winner!! Log onto www.socatherapy.com for more information because it could be YOU! ~ "Gyal just come and amaze me ... Ain't no time to be lazy ... We Goin' Farming!"

We ridin' outta de farm to get some rest and Red Bull so we reeeeeady for Soca or Die! 8 ... the 2 Day fete concept!!!!!!!

Mizz Kayz for the TJJ fam
