Luciano aka The Messenger in concert was touted as a memorable and moving event, and it absolutely delivered on that promise. The vibe of ‘Reggae Park’ was mellow and almost sacred as emperors, empresses, kings and queens gathered to be serenaded by one of the icons of conscious reggae music. The regal outfits, noble stance, and reflective dispositions of some of the crowd were almost intimidating, but a definite indication that they were serious about what they came to witness.

The familiar smell wafting through the air was telling of the fact that some patrons were prepping long in advance of Luciano’s performance to be in a meditative state to enjoy every note. The show began with TnT's King David and Jah Melody who performed their hits for the receptive crowd and represented well on behalf of our local reggae artistes. After a brief pause, during which DJs Shal Marshall and Umba blessed the dance with conscious hits, the VIP crowd moved forward when Luciano took the stage.

The legendary entertainer had the crowd eating out of his palm with the combination of his smooth voice, endless antics (including a cartwheel) and energy for days! Backed by local reggae band Ites, Gold and Green, Luciano delivered an incredible performance that lasted over 2 hours as he performed tune after tune from his prolific repertoire.

True Luciano fans enjoyed some of his lesser-known songs, but even if you didn’t know the words it was hard not to be moved by his soothing baritone voice and captivating reggae melodies. Fans were hanging on to his every word, and it was evident that his lyrics and melodies were touching them. They were vocal about their appreciation for his message of peace and his condemnation of violence and other societal ills. Even without any illicit substances it was possible to get a contact high from the close proximity to such a powerful force. It was definitely a pleasure to witness such greatness.
