"Ah have ah tabanca ha.. CARNIVAL TABANCA.. mas, j'ouvert and all inclusives.. fetes, beach limes and panyards.. ah have ah tabanca ha!" If you're singing along right now, you MUST have attended the "Return Fete" at Kool Haus presented by Dr. Jay de Soca Prince and the KOS Family! For all of you who did not make it to Trinidad, the land of "Oil and Music" for Carnival'08, this was the fete to make up for "De Heat" and for those of you who experienced the GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH this was for you to bring back de heat and reminisce on the good times!!
This fete is the most anticipated fete after the Carnival season so the line started flowin' from 10pm sharp. TJJ made sure we arrived early to get ah few drinks in and prepare for ah SPECTACULAR show. On the inside playing all de sweet chunes people crave was the doctor who prescribes the best remedies, Dr. Jay alongside marXman and Soca Sweetness, with E Man and Dirty Dez blessin' the mic and keepin' the vibes strong! Umba D'Shepherd from 96.1 WEFM (Trinidad's #1 Radio Station) was also in the building sharing the mic with de fellas pumpin' up de crowd. What really made this night spectacular and top the charts were the live performances by some of the top artists from Trinidad Carnival 2K8.
KES THE BAND (one of Trinidad's hottest bands with Soca's sex symbol, Kees) performed "Right Dey", "The Remedy", "Wave It Away" and many more big chunes. Of course, one of our favourite ladies in the Soca industry was also present, NADIA BATSON (multi-talented singer and song writer) performing her hit songs "Caribbean Girl", "My Posse" and the bess chune "Mind Yuh Business"!!! It's we chant for 2008 - "Mind yuh own business ... doh study bout me ... tink about yuh own family!!!"
Unfortunately BLAXX could not attend this event due to work permit issues, but if you know the doctor, you must know he will still come strong. Representing in place of Blaxx were 2008 International Groovy Soca Monarch finals 3rd place winners, Shal Marshall and Kerwin Dubois singing another big chune for the 2k8 season, "Gyal Farm". Once the ladies heard the harmonicists start to blow it was ah wrap from there ... they were linin' up right through Kool Haus.
From about 10pm - 4am, everyone was "Blazin' D Trail" through the building and "Rollin'" thru de fete, thru de fete, thru de fete!!!! Wavin' and holdin' their rags in the air, with "Thunder Waist" peltin' everywhere!! Real talk, if you didn't go to Trinidad for Carnival, it was a necessity for you be present at this fete ... especially if you wanted to feel the vibes you missed!! You could feel the love between the people in there. It really didn't matter if you were from the Caribbean or not, the love was EVERYWHERE. And we guess this is why de KOS family stated that, they would be blazin d trail once again for everyone else to follow!!!
Return Fete 2008 left us "Breathless" after all de positive energy that was possessed inside Kool Haus. With smiles across our faces we rollin' out one time!! Til de next fete KOS ... come leh we roll nah!!!!!! We Roolllllin’ ... We Roolllllin’!!!
