SOCA (so-ca) - A Style of music, originating in the West Indies that is a blend of soul and calypso. SUMMIT (sum-mit) - A conference or meeting of world leaders. With those two words it mind, de soca heads knew exactly what to expect this weekend at Lions Gate. This meeting was brought to us by D’Enforcas for their 14 year anniversary!

TJJ had two fetes to pass through that night so we made an early turn to Lions Gate. We pulled into the parking lot around 10:30 pm and it looked as though the “soca meeting” was already jam packed. The line to get in was filled with fete-go’ers waving their rags as they tried to tune in to de music pumpin inside. After givin’ ah lil' sweet talk to de bouncers, we were in de door like ah speeding bullet and we were ready to party with our fellow Toronto “soca leaders!”

Playing strictly jam sessions for the night were some of the hottest DJ’s - Canada's # 1 Soca Sound Crew D'ENFORCAS INTERNATIONAL, GISELLE D' WASSI ONE live from Miami (MIXX 96.1), SOCA SWEETNESS from the KOS family, sound of the future RENEGADE SQUAD and Bajan sensation WUK UP PRODUCTIONS. Bringing instant hype on the mic were E MAN from the KOS family, the champ S.K.F alongside TRIKKI (Renegade Squad). This party was all hosted by JEF (Toronto-Lime.com) & CHARLENE (TriniJungleJuice.com). With a line up like that, yuh know de people were in for a sweet treat ... from new reggae spinning on the turntables one minute to ole soca’ blasting through the speakers, we were all taking in every moment with waistline’s swaying and hands waving!

After causing some bacchanal on the dancefloor, de TJJ crew had to pick up de pace and ride out to de next fete. As we threw on our scarves and got our jackets ready, fete-go’ers continued jammin’ til maaawnin! Snow or rain couldn’t stop them from having a good time! The music was sweet, vibes were heating up de place and D’Enforcas had de crowd weak! Although we didn’t want to leave, we had to make a pass through the other side of the city ... so we had to wipe we tears away and roll out!

See allyuh at de next soca meeting,
