If it is one thing for sure, is that the Atlanta Caribbean Carnival Bandleaders Association (A.C.C.B.A) know how to treat their guests. After putting us up at the beautiful Wyndham Garden Hotel, located in the scenic Downtown Atlanta, they treated us to a fine evening of song, dance and masquerade at the launch of the 21st Annual Atlanta Caribbean Carnival Press Party.

Though the schedule start time was prolonged by a minor 30 minutes outside their target start time of 2pm, that did not fluster all in attendance, as they had opportunities to take in and contribute to the beautiful decor of the Wyndham's cash bar and lounge area, as well as, smile for the TJJ camera.

After the dust cleared, and a with a tap of the microphone from newly elected President Matthew 'True' Nelson, the evening got on the way. After blessing the upcoming evening's events with a prayer, Mr. Nelson, opened the floor up for questions. Though Atlanta's very own number one Caribbean radio personality, Mr. Jason Walker of WRFG Radio was present, the expectation was that he would take hold of the microphone at first. Because if you know Jason, you know he always has something to say. However, just this once, he was beaten out by a VJ (Voice Jockey) from Trinidad. Yet, as the questions came, there was a fight for the microphone on the executive board's side as everyone was certainly excited to answer the influx of questions. Needless to say, it was all handled well. So the 'Press' part of the evening was a wrap.

Secretary/Treasurer of ACCBA, Patricia Henry, thanked the numerous members of the media for their support before she introduced the members of the masquerade bands, whose costumes looked really beautiful. With a total of 9 bands with at least two people from each band parading the lounge area of the Wyndham Garden Hotel, one could just imagine what's to come Carnival weekend. Regular hotel guests even stopped by to view and take photos of the masqueraders and their costumes. As for the Wyndham, Senior Sales Manager Yvonne Sapp did a fantastic job ensuring that all went well for the ACCBA Committee and invited guests. As the evening came to a close, ACCBA Vice President Marcy Connell ensured that everything went smoothly for all band members.

Be sure to visit the 21st Annual Atlanta Caribbean Carnival as it takes place on Saturday May 23rd, 2009 in the streets of Downtown Atlanta. We'll definitely be there, so when you're parading under the sun, don't forget to bring your best smile!
