Another week has passed and Woodford Café Unplugged is here, each and every Tuesday at the Woodford Café in Movie Towne. Tonight’s featured band being Imij & Co. with Michelle X who planned to launch one of her new songs. It wasn’t long after I arrived, Michelle Xavier, Gregory Ayuen and the guys took the floor at around 11pm and without hesitation they began moving the crowd with tunes varying from oldies to disco, soca to pop and also some RnB was up in de mix too. The band rocked the crowd with songs from The Eagles ... “Hotel California”, The Four Season ... “December 63”, Beyonce ... “Halo” and the late great Michael Jackson ... “Human Nature” & “Shake Your Body Down to the Ground”.

Then as we mentioned earlier, Michelle then debuted one of her newest singles called “Thank You”. The vibe through out the night was filled with such passion and intensity, that the band’s Music Director, Joey Ng Wai even took the microphone and had the Café pumping with Super Cat’s “Dem No Worry We.”

But why stop at just electrifying??!! The crowd’s energy was surely turned up a few volumes when the guest soca stars Ghetto Flex and Denise “Saucy Wow” Belfon came on the stage.

Performing crowd pleasers such as “Go Low” and “Bacchanal”, Denise then collaborated with Ghetto Flex and bussed the hits “Rock Your Body” and “Wine and Bend Over”. As the night moved on the patrons weren’t given a chance to slow down for a breath, as Saucy Wow just like Imij & Co. paid her respects to the King of Pop, flaunting her talents doing the “Bicycle Wine/Moonwalk”.

Kees Dieffenthaller was also up in the Woodford attempting to camouflage in the audience or maybe he could have been just chilling ... who knows??!! Soon enough however, he was spotted and called out by Ms. Belfon to test his “wining skills” for all to see, and boy did he prove himself to the Wining Soca-Dancehall Queen herself.

All and in all, the night was a jam packed and fun filled night grooving music. I for one am looking forward to the next Unplugged Tuesday at Woodford Café.

Until next time, this is yuh boy Ray J signing out. Catch you on the flip side!
