June 22, 2007 – Port of Spain, Trinidad... Millhouse Company, Trinidad and Tobago’s foremost company designing men’s clothing, made a bold return to the fashion runway at the seventh Caribbean Fashion Week (CFW), which took place from June 6 to June 11, 2007 in Kingston, Jamaica.

On Saturday June 9, 2007, Millhouse unveiled its newest collection, Trinity, to an expectant audience of regional and international fashion critics, media houses, buyers and industry professionals. Head designer, Gregory Mills said, “We showed who we were with simplicity and sophistication using Millhouse’s trademark European flair and a distinctly Caribbean touch in the bold red, white and black of Trinidad and Tobago.” Co-owners and co-designers, Coline Baptiste-Mills and Mills, were proud to offer tribute to their mother land after taking a five-year hiatus from the CFW circuit. Millhouse Company’s last CFW appearance garnered them the attention of the fashion industry when they secured the prestigious award for Best Showing of that night. Once again Millhouse left its mark on the CFW catwalk. Leading US stylist, Stephanie Miller of Oshare Stylez whose celebrity clientele includes Ludacris, 112 and Nas, is looking forward to future work with the design house. “This was definitely one of my favourite lines at this year’s show,” she said.

Evening Sportswear Looks: Black two button notch lapel blazer and no-loop extended waistband pants paired with a black shirt and red tieThe collection was a men’s sportswear line featuring Millhouse’s signature slim silhouettes, clean lines and classic fit in natural fibres such as cottons, silks, linens, tropical wools and micro-fibre. The dominance of black in the collection embodied the strength, unity of purpose and the wealth of the land while traces of red reflected the vitality of the land and its people and the whitest of whites, symbolic of Millhouse’s fresh vision for the future, represented the purity of the people’s aspirations and the seas that bound the lands. According to Baptiste-Mills, “This collection was about our coming of age and new outlook in design and business. We tied our national colour palette together by introducing rich browns and vibrant greens reflective of the nation’s lush, diverse flora and fauna.” These strong colours travelled throughout each piece, intricately detailing pockets, cuffs and linings.

CFW featured regional and international designers including from Trinidad and Tobago - Claudia Pegus, KAJ Designs and Raang, from Jamaica – Moncrieffe, Uzuri, Lubica, Yardmanstyle and Mutamba, from Barbados – Wayne Smith, Rojoe and 5th Element, Antiguan Calvin S, Gavin Douglas based in London, Francis Hendy based in New York, Romanian Catalin Botezatu and Nigerian Deola Sagoe. On location to capture the Caribbean’s finest in fashion were media houses including the BBC, Fashion TV, Hype TV, Ocean Style, SHE Caribbean Magazine and Abstract Magazine.

Millhouse is now looking ahead and stands ready to move beyond Trinidad and Tobago into the status of a highly recognised men’s fashion house in the Caribbean. The menswear label is preparing for the Caribbean Gift and Craft Show scheduled for September 27 to September 30, 2007 in Curaçao as well as a private showing of its holiday collection carded for October 2007.
