Pinning Mr. Slaughter’s blazer for the perfect fitFebruary 15, 2007 – Port of Spain, Trinidad… Millhouse Company, Trinidad and Tobago’s foremost company designing men’s clothing, outfitted local soca music band Imij & Co. for Tuesday night’s Glow fete. It will continue to dress the group for upcoming events, and is also set to outfit soca personality Mr. Slaughter for some of his top engagements this Carnival season.

Demonstrating how soca and style go hand in hand, Millhouse stepped up to the challenge by suiting up the men of Imij & Co. in its classic clean lines with a military touch at Glow. For co-owner and designer Coline Baptiste-Mills the night was an exciting marriage of fete and fashion. “It was really special for us. We wanted to do something to showcase our designs to a wider audience, and also show appreciation to those who’ve supported us through the years,” Baptiste-Mills said.

Coline Baptiste-Mills with Imij & Co.’s frontliners in high Millhouse styleBaptiste-Mills chose a military band theme for Imij & Co. in an all-white two-piece uniform. Slacks were topped by white bell-sleeved jackets complemented by mandarin collars. Gold-cursive trimmings elegantly decorated the jackets’ torsos, sleeves, neck-lines and latch buttons. The look was completed by slim white gloves, emphasising the co-ordinated finish even more on stage.

Frontline singer Russell Cadogan was ecstatic about the clothing at Glow and the positive response they received from patrons and other bands. “It’s the best outfit we’ve had to date. I couldn’t wait to wear it on stage, because being a world-class soca band is not just about the sound. We’re really happy to be working with Millhouse and appreciate the work they’ve put into making us take our performance to another level,” Cadogan said.

Anslem Douglas at Millhouse’s new showroom, The Avenue ShopMillhouse will also be suiting up Mr. Slaughter for this weekend’s high-energy events at the International Soca Monarch Finals, Girl Power and the International Brass Festival. In addition to specially tailored stage wear, Millhouse also attracts off-the-rack shoppers like Grammy award singer/songwriter Anslem Douglas to its new showroom, The Avenue Shop, on Jerningham Avenue

It has been a special Carnival season all round for Millhouse, with February marking its 10th anniversary – the company has been celebrating with a successful 10-day sale on their Carnival line as a way of saying thanks to its patrons.
