Shawn "Da Ma$taMind" NoelSoca Monarch Finalist To Perform Selected Songs At Launch Shows This Week

March 2, 2007 – Port of Spain, Trinidad... On the heels of a successful Carnival season, critically acclaimed soca artist Mr. Slaughter will premiere his 2007 album Port of Spain with two special performances next week. The two shows, produced by promotions company Makaveli, are designed to share the new music with Mr. Slaughter’s fans and will showcase the young star’s remarkable growth over the span of three albums.

On Tuesday March 6 at Woodford Café, Movie Towne, Mr. Slaughter will perform an unplugged set accompanied by guitar and congas. The invite-only show promises to be an intimate portrait of Mr. Slaughter as he’s never been seen before - up close and personal, away from the glare of the big stage.

On Thursday March 8, Mr. Slaughter returns to more familiar territory, launching Port of Spain with a celebration at the VIP All-Star Thursdays night at Southern Edge nightclub in San Fernando. The event will include sets from Mr. Slaughter’s DJ colleagues and friends X-Caliber, Associate Degree, Trevlyn, Rapid Response, Intellect Sounds and Players. Port of Spain features his 2007 Carnival hit Spread The Love - a feel good tribute to the patriotism the greatest show on earth inspires. Spread The Love was a success both on the road and the airwaves – even earning Mr. Slaughter a place in the finals of this year’s Soca Monarch.

Mr. Slaughter stands out as one of the few in the local music industry to have made a smooth and successful transition from working the microphone as a DJ with X-Caliber to commanding audiences as a soca artist. As he steps up his performance game, Mr. Slaughter will also be outfitted for the two performances in the classic style of Trinidad’s premier menswear line, Millhouse Clothing Company.

Port of Spain was made possible with the kind support of Stag and Toyota.
