Kathy Chouloute"I have fought the battle and I have won" like the Island star song said Kathy Chouloute has done just that!

Delray Beach, Florida - On March 7, 2008 at Toussaint L'Ouverture Center, Kathy Chouloute captured the hearts of viewers across the world by being chosen as the first ever Island Star. Chouloute, a 21-year-old student who attends the University of South Florida, was chosen amongst six contestants during a three month competition to find singing talent within the Caribbean community.

Island Star, which is often compared to American Idol, was an attempt to give the young Caribbean community an opportunity to hone their talent. "I believe Island Star served its purpose of giving the community quality programming while encouraging our young adults," said the producer of Island Star, Ed Shakespierre.

Island Star averaged 30,000 viewers a Week during the season and surpassed this number during the finale. Chouloute admits that her performance during the finale was not her best and believed it wouldn't be enough to win the competition. "I was shaken up after my performance, but I am grateful to know the viewers believed in my ability to be a successful Island Star, " said Chouloute.

As the first Island Star, Chouloute will be working on an album in both French and English that will be marketed to the Haitian, Caribbean and American community. For more info on Chouloute as the Island Star log on to www.islandstartv.com.
