Magnum Kings & Queens of Dancehall: A Revolution"This is not just a talent show, it's a revolution in the music".

Kingston, Jamaica:- As the New Year dawns in Jamaica, dancehall lovers all over the globe are in a heightened state of anticipation waiting for the premier of Magnum Kings & Queens of Dancehall this Saturday, January 5th 2008 at 9pm on TVJ.

Dancehall music was developed in the late 1970s out of a need for Jamaicans to express themselves in an authentic Jamaican style. With exponents such as Yellow Man and Shabba Ranks, dancehall music over the last thirty years has become the voice of Jamaica and has conquered the hearts of people from the tip of Africa to the metropolitan centres of Europe.

Throughout the years, many great artiste have fought a seemingly insurmountable battle to 'buss' onto to the big stage. The reality of dancehall is that it is characterised by a plethora of issues that at times make it difficult for a young artistes to expose their talents to a wide audience. Magnum Kings & Queens of Dancehall seeks to address these factors and introduce new Princes and Princesses to the dancehall stage.

Magnum Kings and Queens of Dancehall will provide an equal opportunity to any male and female who want to buss out on the dancehall scene. This opportunity in itself is a revolution in dancehall music; never before has such a big stage been provided to aspiring artistes to hone their skills in front of such a large Jamaican and world audience. TVJ, which boasts an audience of over 1 million viewers is this stage. Magnum Kings and queens of Dancehall will also be harnessing the talents of industry veterans who have decades of knowledge in guiding young artistes and exposing new talent.

"We will make sure that the contestants of Magnum Kings & Queens of Dancehall get the best coaching and career advice possible. We will be ensuring that the highest level of professionalism is maintained. Princes and Princesses will be able to draw on the experiences of professionals to improve their presentation, appearance and overall talent. This is not just a talent show; it's a revolution in the music. We are building the music and enhancing the dancehall culture, this is a first in the history of dancehall competitions" – Sanjay Ramanand, Assistant Producer, Magnum Kings & Queens of Dancehall.

Magnum Kings and Queens of Dancehall comes at a time in the music when there is a great need for equal opportunity for both males and females who want to expose their talent. The competition seeks to unearth and develop hidden talent and create dancehall's next big star.

The revolution will be televised beginning this Saturday, January 5th 2008 on TVJ when the contestants from the Savana-la-mar auditions will show their potential. It is only then that the great anticipation will be satisfied.
