Tent to feature Trinidad's reigning Calypso Monarch Cro-CroPosted 11-15-07 Basseterre, St.Kitts (November 14th 2007):- Legends Entertainment in collaboration with the Young and Energized Corps entertainment group will be presenting the LEGENDS TENT CALYPSO REVUE on November 24th 2007 at PAM Headquarters. The event is expected to feature a number of big name local and regional calypsonians including the reigning Calypso Monarch out of Trinidad and Tobago Weston Cro-Cro Rawlins. Cro Cro earlier this year claimed his fourth Trinidad and Tobago National Calypso Monarch title when he performed a humorous calypso entitled 'Nobody Ain't Go Know' before the judges at the 2007 edition of the Dimanche Gras at the Jean Pierre Complex, Port of Spain in Trinidad . Singing in position 15, he scored 428 points with a performance that was entertaining and thought provotking and good enough to earn him full support from the audience as well as the nod from the judges who decided that the title and the $500,000 prize that went with it should go to him. Cro Cro's song gave an account of his experiences whenever he travels to the United States and everyone he knows asks him to take things to relatives living in New York. Cro Cro said he was always confident that he would win although he acknowledged that his competitors all had very good songs and delivered sterling performances. Rawlins has made a name in calypso on the basis of stinging attacks against political parties and biting social commentaries on , the education system and past prime ministers. He is one a very elite group of calypsonians who have won the Trinidad and Tobago Calypso Monarch title on multiple occasions including 1988,1990,1996 and 2007. He was recently listed by Kaisoca International as one of the top 15 calypsonians of all times joining the ranks with names like Sparrow, David Rudder, Lord Melody and Black Stalin. Cro-Cro will be the featured performer alongside top local calypsonians including 4 time St.Kitts Calypso Monarch and former Leeward Islands Calypso Monarch King Sacrotes, National Female Monarch Queen Anastasia, multi-time Nevis Culturama Monarch King Meeko in addition to popular performers Neglector, Hot Rod(Turkey Killer),Provoker,Lady Sunshine,Frankie Sly,Quantash and other well known calypsonians. Rick leaves patrons at Glow White HotPosted 08-05-07 Most patrons to soca concerts would see 4:00 a.m. as far too late to wait for a headline act. But those who attended Power x Four's Glow fete on Thursday had no problem with the wait... especially since the featured artiste had a certain taste for seafood. With his 2007 Crop Over hit 'Eating Too Much Conch' this year's Party Monarch Lil Rick whipped the crowd into a culinary soca frenzy opening his set with 'Conch' and using the tune as the background for a few biting rebuttals to his critics. Never one to leave out his doting public, he invited 5 willing participants onstage for an energetic demonstration of 'Girls Gone Wild'. But the tune that sent the temperature under the tent to white hot levels was of course his Party Monarch hit 'Can't Wait'. How Lil' Rick found the energy to deliver every line with perfect accuracy while demonstrating his now legendary waistline agility is anyone's guess. The backing band's drummer lost his shirt and some patrons very nearly lost their minds with the anticipation of 'jump up day'. With Kadooment Day a mere 3 days away and Lil Rick stirring the soca stew it's totally understandable that the crowd at Glow '07 can't wait. ^ Top Soca

Jadine teamed up with Vincy King of Groovey Soca production, Godfrey Cherry Ince to bring this powerful and catchy new Soca tune. This tune is best described as a new anthem for women who are not afraid to say they won't put up with the insecurities of other women. It talks about the friendship between a woman and a man who has a insecure girlfriend. It's about time this subject was discussed, says Jadine when asked about the reason behind this tunes story. I think some women are out of place to harass other women. It's funny that they always think another woman is the problem and not their man. This is Jadine's second release for the year. Already, this tune is causing ripples in the Soca arena becoming a quick catch phrase in many people everyday conversations to say, Don't Call My Phone. This single will be available on her soon to be released album due out in stores and online music venues September 2007. ^ Top Model

Walt Whitman Hall, the new home of the International Soca AwardsPosted 05-15-07 New York, NY (May15, 2007) Coming off from the successfully produced 1st Trinidad and Tobago Gospel Awards that was held in Trinidad on April 20th, the Soca Awards Organization (SAO) is gearing up for another grand event. The Walt Whitman Hall of the Brooklyn College is the new home that has welcomed the long running award show. Its Theatre seats 2,500 and it is expected to be filled with event goers who will be jumping off theirs seats in sheer excitement and anticipation. The SAO continues to produce this show with confidence that Calypso and Soca, and its associated genres, will be acknowledged universally. With forty-five categories; white carpet signifying purity and the rebirth of a grand affair; performances from international artists; and honorees; the SAO predicts an event like no other, in a grandiose and extravagant location that houses one of the last remaining monster projector screens in New York City. The SAO eagerly renames September 2nd, 2007 Soca Sunday, the day before Labor Day when the International Soca Awards 5 (ISA) will take place. This event will objectively top all others of the past and open up the world to the rhythms of the Soca music, and coax the mind into a gradual adulation for the genre. ISA 5 is a pioneer for most major Caribbean award shows, including the Barbados Music Awards that had its first show in 2006. With support from political and private organizations, ISA 5 is expected to be a great success.

Productions Works with Guyana's Adrian Dutchinby Nevella Posted 02-06-07 "I don't believe in following your dreams, chase your dreams," Interesting play on words, but something to really think about. Adrian Dutchin, a Guyanese native who writes all his songs, loves singing and entertaining, boldly professes he puts God first and declared without God and prayer and his fans, he wouldn't be coming up the way he is. Trusting and knowing in his heart his season will come, and intends to use it as a positive stepping stone for himself and others in the Guyanese music industry. Broadening his horizons and looking for a different sound for his music, he teamed up with Shawn Ma$tamind Noel of Ma$tamind Productions, to work on "Promises" a remake of the original, which he wrote when he was 15 yrs old and apart of the group Seven. Adrian was quick to point out however that the latest version boasts a new melody and a change in the original song structure. He decided to use this song because it was his first and believed that Noel will give the song a different flavour. Adrian admires the way Noel works, confessing that Shawn has a different perception of what he hears and what the music should sound like. He mentioned having singing lessons in the studio, being able to relate to one another and in fact loves that communication and understanding is not a barrier, which is a positive for Mr. Noel in the an artis |
