Basseterre, St.Kitts (November 14th 2007):- Legends Entertainment in collaboration with the Young and Energized Corps entertainment group will be presenting the LEGENDS TENT CALYPSO REVUE on November 24th 2007 at PAM Headquarters.

The event is expected to feature a number of big name local and regional calypsonians including the reigning Calypso Monarch out of Trinidad and Tobago Weston “Cro-Cro” Rawlins.

Cro Cro earlier this year claimed his fourth Trinidad and Tobago National Calypso Monarch title when he performed a humorous calypso entitled 'Nobody Ain't Go Know' before the judges at the 2007 edition of the Dimanche Gras at the Jean Pierre Complex, Port of Spain in Trinidad . Singing in position 15, he scored 428 points with a performance that was entertaining and thought provotking and good enough to earn him full support from the audience as well as the nod from the judges who decided that the title and the $500,000 prize that went with it should go to him.

Cro Cro's song gave an account of his experiences whenever he travels to the United States and everyone he knows asks him to take things to relatives living in New York. Cro Cro said he was always confident that he would win although he acknowledged that his competitors all had very good songs and delivered sterling performances.

Rawlins has made a name in calypso on the basis of stinging attacks against political parties and biting social commentaries on , the education system and past prime ministers. He is one a very elite group of calypsonians who have won the Trinidad and Tobago Calypso Monarch title on multiple occasions including 1988,1990,1996 and 2007. Lil' Rick leaves patrons at Glow White HotLil' Rick leaves patrons at Glow White Hot
Posted 08-05-07

Most patrons to soca concerts would see 4:00 a.m. as far too late to wait for a headline act. But those who attended Power x Four's Glow fete on Thursday had no problem with the wait... especially since the featured artiste had a certain taste for seafood.

With his 2007 Crop Over hit 'Eating Too Much Conch' this year's Party Monarch Lil Rick whipped the crowd into a culinary soca frenzy opening his set with 'Conch' and using the tune as the background for a few biting rebuttals to his critics. Never one to leave out his doting public, he invited 5 willing participants onstage for an energetic demonstration of 'Girls Gone Wild'. But the tune that sent the temperature under the tent to white hot levels was of course his Party Monarch hit 'Can't Wait'.

How Lil' Rick found the energy to deliver every line with perfect accuracy while demonstrating his now legendary waistline agility is anyone's guess. The backing band's drummer lost his shirt and some patrons very nearly lost their minds with the anticipation of 'jump up day'. With Kadooment Day a mere 3 days away and Lil Rick stirring the soca stew it's totally understandable that the crowd at Glow '07 can't wait.

Clad in a royal robe of shining blue and yellow and wearing a crown, Lil Rick emerged from the middle of the crowd seated on a throne which was carried by his "honour guards" and a dozen stilt walkers bearing flags carrying the Hypa Dawg logo, the words "Caan Wait" and the logos of his various sponsors.

Without any musical accompaniment, Lil Rick made his way to the stage with the crowd chanting the words "Caan Wait, Caan Wait" in unison. As he joined a spectacle of well choreography body painted and costumed dancers on stage, he burst into song to earn his fourth Party Monarch title to date.

With four albums to his name - Challenge (1997), We Surviving (1999), More Hype (2003) and Spontaneous (2005) the majority of the music from this singer, songwriter can be found on compilations produced by Peter Coppin, Terry Arthur and Dwain Antrobus. This year, Lil Rick has again cemented his position as Barbados' most versatile entertainer with three heavily rotated hit singles - "Eating too much conch"; "Girls Gone Wild" and "Caan Wait" all of which can be found on the album - Return of the Monsta.

New York City, NY: Vicrae Management Inc. proudly announces the release of a new single by Montserration recording artist Jadine De Soca Deva, called “Don't Call My Phone”. Jadine teamed up with Vincy King of Groovey Soca production, Godfrey “Cherry” Ince to bring this powerful and catchy new Soca tune.

This tune is best described as a new anthem for women who are not afraid to say they won't put up with the insecurities of other women. It talks about the friendship between a woman and a man who has a insecure girlfriend. ”It's about time this subject was discussed”, says Jadine when asked about the reason behind this tunes story. “I think some women are out of place to harass other women. It's funny that they always think another woman is the problem and not their man.”

This is Jadine's second release for the year. Already, this tune is causing ripples in the Soca arena becoming a quick catch phrase in many people everyday conversations to say, “Don't Call My Phone”. This single will be available on her soon to be released album due out in stores and online music venues September 2007.

Guyana's Adrian DutchinMa$tamind Productions Works with Guyana's Adrian Dutchin
by Nevella
Posted 02-06-07

"I don't believe in following your dreams, chase your dreams," Interesting play on words, but something to really think about. Adrian Dutchin, a Guyanese native who writes all his songs, loves singing and entertaining, boldly professes he puts God first and declared without God and prayer and his fans, he wouldn't be coming up the way he is. Trusting and knowing in his heart his season will come, and intends to use it as a positive stepping stone for himself and others in the Guyanese music industry.

Broadening his horizons and looking for a different sound for his music, he teamed up with Shawn Ma$tamind Noel of Ma$tamind Productions, to work on "Promises" a remake of the original, which he wrote when he was 15 yrs old and apart of the group Seven. Adrian was quick to point out however that the latest version boasts a new melody and a change in the original song structure. He decided to use this song because it was his first and believed that Noel will give the song a different flavour. Adrian admires the way Noel works, confessing that Shawn has a different perception of what he hears and what the music should sound like. He mentioned having singing lessons in the studio, being able to relate to one another and in fact loves that communication and understanding is not a barrier, which is a positive for Mr. Noel in the an artists mind, especially his. A privilege experience he uttered, and looks forward to working with him on a Christmas song for Ma$tamind Christmas album. Shawn Noel will also be co-producing Adrian's Road March and Soca Monarch songs along with Producer Mark Walcott for Mashramani 2007 (carnival in Guyana).

Adrian Dutchin is currently the reigning Road March and Soca Monarch in Guyana. Singing since 1998, he has performed internationally and is well loved and accepted in Guyana, reason being, he humbly stated "Guyana's been looking for something to show ownership, people feel proud, Adrian Dutchin is doing something positive." Currently also a member of Guyanese based band Times Two "X2", Adrian continues to create his legacy and have no qualms in trying different Genres of music. Looking into the future, he wishes to collaborate with established artists, become a better person physically, mentally and spiritually, secure a record deal, perform for thousands, put Guyana on the map musically, be a positive role model musically, release an album and of course stay humble as he continues to chase his dream.

He sends his thanks to Shawn Ma$tamind Noel, Natasha Andrews-Noel and the Ma$tamind crew. "It was a pleasure, and I hope that bigger and better things will come to the table in the future. Let's see how the Tree Grows".

This year while Chucky is still for the ladies he is not just asking to see them but for them to "Turn Around" so he can wine on them, the groovy soca tune is according to the artist a wining song as well as a love story.

Chucky's voice is already a regular on the airwaves thank to a collaboration with Synergy TV Soca Star finalist Umi Marcano with "Move That Body".

At 20 the talented entertainer is already proving himself to be a force to be reckoned with, having competed in the junior calypso level for a number of years and in 2006 successfully maked the transition to the soca world.

Chucky was the only the second artist (Shadow was the first in 2001 with Stranger) to compete in the top levels of the industry in both Soca and calypso in the same year. He made history as the second youngest person to make it to the finals (after Machel) and also made it to the finals of the 2006 Groovy Soca Monarch competition, despite it being his first soca attempt.

He was also the only Trini artist to be nominated for the Best New Male Soca Artiste for 2006 Soca Awards, as well as being nominated for the Top 20 Stars of Gold award in 2006.

Mista Vybe Mash(es) It Up Again!Mista Vybe Mash(es) It Up Again!
Posted 01-09-07

The reigning Caribbean Soca Monarch, Mista Vybe, has released another offering for the 2007 Carnival season. The track - titled "Mash It Up (Again)" - has so far received a raging positive response from radio stations and disc jockeys, both at home and abroad.

The song is testimony to the unbeatable collaboration between the writing talents of Mista Vybe and the musical genius of Julien "Julio" Nelson, producer of "Ting 4 D Road".

"Mash It Up (Again)" was inspired by the spirit of foundation Road March King, Super Blue, an artist that Vybe acknowledges has been a great influence in his writing and his career.

Mista Vybe highlighted that there were those who wondered whether he was capable of producing a worthy follow-up or sequel to "Ting 4 D Road". Mista Vybe explained: "It is difficult for any writer to write any song in general. However, I have always been one to write music and my intention was never to repeat 'Ting 4 D Road', but to continue to write music that captured the spirit of Carnival."

Mista Vybe is happy to have once again contributed significantly in a musical way to Trinidad and Tobago’s Carnival festivities, as there is already talk of this song being a strong Road March and International Soca Monarch contender for 2007.

Whatever the result, this Versatile Young Black Entertainer (Vybe) has proven, based on this follow up, that he is indeed a formidable entity in Trinidad and Tobago's soca fraternity.

CJ set to release Soca Album - 'HD - CARNIVAL DAY - CJ and Friends'CJ moves from High Definition to MP4
Soca Records
Posted 01-08-07

New York, NY (January 6th, 2007) - Soca Awards Organization's CEO CJ will release album as MP4 - Carnival Day: CJ and Friends

High Definition - the new age way of viewing digitally that makes everything appear at a sharper, more progressive quality. For the theme High Definition (HD), CJ looked at the quality of work that he produced on the album and decided that it would be the most appropriate. After careful consideration of the theme that is also being used by long time associate Machel Montano, CJ have decided to move from High Definition to MP4. CJ
holds great respect for all artists, and feels that this move is best.

After all, the Soca Awards Organization & Soca Records is about the uplifting of Soca and every aspect surrounding it, so the more unity among artists, and the less 'bachannal' created, either by media or otherwise, would keep the festival focusing on the music and not only the stories created behind the music. MP4 was chosen for it's step above regularity, and the capacity it holds for interchanging between audio and visual, parallel to the music and rhythmic driven movements and dances related to Carnival. What better way to go?

Stay tuned for more information on the soon to be released MP4 - CARNIVAL DAY: CJ AND FRIENDS.
