TD Bank Presents the 2015 Jr. Carnival With Over 350 Young Masqueraders Set To Showcase  A Sea of Color, Pageantry and Pride

Heritage TNT Jr. Band Looks To Keep Title of Band of the Year

Miami, FL (August 31, 2015)-The young people of South Florida will have an opportunity to proudly showed off their beautifully-created and colorful outfits. Over 350 young children will participate at the Miami Broward Carnival Jr. Carnival parade and competition on Sunday, October 4, 2015 at Central Broward Park(3700 NW 11th Place, Lauderhill, FL 33311). Gates open at 12:30pm and the parade begins at 3pm. The park fee is $1.50 and admission is $10. Kids under 10 years old are free.

This annual family Caribbean inspired event facilitates artistic development and knowledge transfer, and that inspires and motivates young people to take up the torch of the Carnival tradition and carry it high. The young masqueraders will compete based on their creativity, presentation and craftsmanship.

“We are looking forward to a safe and successful Junior Carnival this year as we continue to promote and sustain the culture of the Caribbean people,” says Rose Kelly, Bandleader of Heritage TnT, Jr. Carnival band. “The youths are the future of our Carnival,so we hope to bring more awareness of our culture to them.”

“Although we are second and third generation West Indians, this is our culture.  It's longevity depends on the positive inclusion of the children.  They are the ones who will carry the torch and ensure that our Carnival never dies, says Gisselle d’ Wassi One, Bandleader for Wassi Babes Jr. Carnival.

WHO:   Young masqueraders will compete based on their creativity, presentation and craftsmanship in their vibrant and colorful masquerade costumes. Miami Broward Jr. Carnival is also one of the symbols of diversity and inclusion as there are non-Caribbean children of various backgrounds that also participate in the parade and festivities.
