Two months into the inaugural staging of the Negril One Love Reggae Concert winter series it has been proven that the weekly concert series is winner.  So far the series has been bringing a lot of traffic to the One Love Drive formerly known as the Westend Road on a weekly basis.  Last Tuesday’s staging which featured reggae artists Alborosie and Duane Stephenson continued the trend of success, as hundreds of patrons filed into the Negril Escape resort to witness what turned out to be another wonderful concert.

Duane Stephenson, who hit stage about 10:39, opened his performance with a beautiful song titled Love In The City, which instantly drew a positive response from the audience.  He continued to rock the house with hits such as Real Ghetto Pain, Let Love Live, August Town, Give A Helping Hand and Little Cottage In Negril. At the end of his nearly hour long performance he earned a well deserved encore.

The closing act for the night Italian dancehall sensation Alborosie kept the momentum going with a high energy performance which had the audience in a very exciting mood, especially the Italian visitors in the audience. Alborosie bussed the place with hardcore dancehall and reggae tracks such as Blessings, Kingston Town, Is This love, Jamaica, Rastafari and Anthem. He also earned a well deserved encore.

Opening acts Jahvante and Vengeance gave good accounts of themselves.  Dean Frazer who was not officially billed for the event delivered a brilliant performance that showed why he is revered as reggae’s greatest Saxophonist.

The headliner for next week’s concert which will be held on Tuesday January 21st 2010 will be reggae super star Richie Spice.
