Simple, yet Sassy!

Saturday 30th January, 2010 is a date that patrons would remember for a time to come. This marked the day they attended yet another excellent and successful All Inclusive fete (and fund raiser) hosted by the good folks of Presentation College & The Rotary Club and Chaguanas.

The college grounds was well decorated with vibrant lights and lovely displays of colour that really gave patrons eyes a treat. Speaking of treats, delicacies were in huge display; satisfying the taste buds of every party-goer.  Ranging from gourmet Creole to well-spiced East Indian cuisine, all the way to our local Bake N' Shark and Doubles, no one should have left this fete hungry.  A variety of Premium drinks were also at arms reach to quench the thirst of the energetic crowd.  And a ‘Wine Bar’ is always a nice touch for those eloquent drinkers.

Entertaining the crowd was Chutney Monarch finalist Ravi B. and Karma with his array of hits alongside his band mate and sister Nisha B. “Ah Drinka” is clearly one of the top Chutney tunes for 2010.  They took the crowd back in time with some "old school" Kaiso hits. From a teacher's point of view, their presentation at Presentation College Chaguanas undoubtedly deserved an A+ grade.  Following their performance, there was a brief recess where the sounds of live Tassa filled the air of the school's grounds.

The next performer to touch the stage was guest artist (and now Chaguanas resident) Ms. Denise "Saucy Wow" Belfon, who literally held a “Wining tutorial” session for the female attendees. Closing out her set with the popular “Pipe (Remix)”, Saucy truly executed a great performance bringing out all her tricks from both her vocals as well as her waistline, as DJ Hi-Fidelity provided the musical tracks. She was also joined on stage by some beautiful female masqueraders portraying some really colorful carnival costumes.  Surely, there were a lot of male patrons present who would not have mind staying after Saucy’s class.

Following Denise's class session, one of Trinidad & Tobago most versatile bands stepped onto center stage; Imij and Co. Frontline singers Russell Cadogan, Michelle Xavier and new comer Junior Don pleased the crowd singing all past, as well as present music, including two new 2010 tracks under their belt for the carnival season.  They even sung a mixture of disco, pop and RnB as the crowd swayed side to side to the grooves.  Their performance brought a soothing end to the 2010 “Simply Sassy” presentation, and it wasn’t too long before we chipped out the door to the sweet sound of Tassa.

Special thanks to all committee members and sponsors for having Trini Jungle Juice present at your event. We hope to be part of your roll call for any other upcoming events.
