Port-Of-Spain, Trinidad (Sonique Solutions) –The celebrated Trinidad and Tobago Carnival Friday event will once again take Soca music and Caribbean culture to the world. Bmobile, its parent company TSTT and the international manufactures of Blackberry, Research in Motion (RIM) join forces to bring a new expansion and excitement to the competition and the entire Soca arena.

The Bmobile Blackberry International Soca Monarch which was first executed in 1993 has evolved into an annual dual segment contest event which is held on every Carnival Friday (aka Fantastic Friday) in T&T. 2010 will not only see local performers compete against one another as well as the region’s Soca elite in both Groovy and Power Soca categories but also features new, exciting incentives and components geared towards generating global interest in the genre and brand.

This year the semi-final phase of the competition saw Bmobile and Play Whe collaborate to give customers a chance to vote for their favorite groovy artiste via text. This new feature was well subscribed as 8,561 votes were registered in a time span of 24 hours. Groovy artiste Shivonne Churche (Lil Bits) captured 23% of the total votes and was catapulted to the finals and consequently gained a $10,000 cash prize.

As a forward thinking, progressive, technological entity, Bmobile alongside the event producer Caribbean Prestige Foundation have agreed to have 65% of the artistes’ scores decided through the judges, and 35% through text voting. Further emphasizing the International flavour of the Soca Monarch, TSTT has expanded its text voting system to the citizens in Antigua, Barbados, Grenada, Dominica, St. Vincent, North America and Canada.

Sales Effectiveness Analyst, Enterprise Marketing for TSTT, Lorraine Steele advised that the Power Soca finalists have been presented with the new Bmobile Blackberry Bold 9700 handsets. Additionally, loyal customer Christopher Aroon, the winner of Bmobile BlackBerry’s “Party Like A Soca Star” promotion won a VIP prize package for himself and 10 of his friends for the finals on Friday 12th Feb. The package includes a limousine service to and from the venue, refreshments and VIP treatment in the Bmobile Corporate Box at the Oval.

Not to be excluded, all devoted customers can win Bmobile BlackBerry handsets by purchasing tickets for the event. As an additional feature, customers purchasing silver tickets for the show will receive a free $20.00 Bmobile Top-UP with their ticket while those purchasing both gold and platinum tickets, receive a free $50.00 Top-UP with their ticket.

Telecommunications Services of Trinidad & Tobago Limited (TSTT) expresses great pride about its association with this major cultural showcase and praises Research in Motion for their involvement in this one of a kind project. According to TSTT officials, it is this unique alliance that made this effort truly possible.

As “Fantastic” Friday 12th Feb 2010 rolls around the world will be watching and even participating as Bmobile and Blackberry create International Soca Monarch history.
