New York, New York -- March 16, 2010-- Amazura will resemble an all-out, sweat-soaked session when legendary King Stur Gav deejays Brigadier Jerry, Ranking Joe and General Trees take center stage at "Reeewind." on Saturday, March 27.

The King Stur Gav sound, owned by Daddy U-Roy, has been at the forefront of Reggae music and culture for four decades.  During its reign in the 70's and 80's, the sound traveled with forceful deejays who rose to fame as artists and forefathers of dancehall music and culture. Now, some of the sound's most prosperous disciples will rule "Reeewind & Come Again."

When one mentions King Stur Gav, they can't help but think of one of the sound's most visible and influential students -- Brigadier Jerry (affectionately known as Briggy).  Truly every dancehall artist's deejay, Brigadier Jerry has been emulated by legions of dancehall artists for his innovative style and piercing delivery. Briggy set the standard for style and live performances for all deejays to follow. Since Shabba Ranks was tapped for "Reeewind & Come Again," he has repeatedly expressed his excitement of being on the same stage with his icon and favorite deejay Brigadier Jerry.

What makes Brigadier Jerry extra potent, is his passion for positive lyrics, often chatting verses directly from the Bible.  Through his impeccable career as a foundation artist, Brigadier Jerry proved that you can carry a vibe and mesmerize an audience without slackness.  Briggy says that he patterned his hybrid style from some of his favorite artists before him including U-Roy of course, Prince Jazzbo, Big Youth and Dennis Alcapone to name a few.

The name Ranking Joe carries just as much weight for the King Stur Gav sound.  This deejay was the first artist, outside of U-Roy, to play the sound.   Actually, Ranking Joe dominated King Stur Gav, while Selector Jah Screw held down the turntables.  Formerly Little Joe, Ranking Joe essentially "turbocharged U Roy's rhyming style: his chat was wild, lightning-fast, and full of barely contained explosive energy" (dubfoundation.blogspot.com).

Ranking Joe rose to fame as quite a live performer, who became recognized for his interjections of noises and sounds that drove the crowd wild. Ranking Joe helped King Stur Gav become one of the biggest sounds of the era, only challenged by Stereophonic.  Often, these two sounds had unforgettable sound clashes.

General Trees came on board King Sturgav in the later years, but quickly, his popular "speed talkin" style caught the attention of the massive.  As a leading 80's deejay, General Trees became a sound system star, finding his way to numerous prominent sounds, including Black Scorpio.

General Trees recorded a slew of hit songs during the 80's. But it was his 1986 song "Mini Bus," which was named "Song of the Year" by the Jamaica Broadcasting Corporation, that thrust his career as an artist to another level. With this award, Trees career peaked.  Although General Trees has had reputable stints on several sound systems, the highly respected artist/deejay now calls King Stur Gav home.

With such rich history under their belts, this trio of deejays will be a force to be reckoned with at "Reeewind & Come Again." Indisputably, Brigadier Jerry and General Trees stole the show during the first installment of Irish and Chin's "Reeewind" series in Fall 2009. Dancehall enthusiasts brace yourself!
