I Rubadiri Victor do immediately tender my resignation as a Director from the board of the Jazz Alliance of Trinidad and Tobago. This is being done so as not to prejudice any action against the Alliance from any quarter given the nature of the impasse between the Artist Coalition of Trinidad and Tobago for which I am Interim President and the government of Trinidad and Tobago.

The Jazz Alliance of Trinidad and Tobago is an amazing organization that has set itself the mission to preserve and promote the heritage of the fantastic Legacy of jazz music and its derivatives in Trinidad and Tobago. In its short life thus far the JATT has staged remarkably original and sophisticated shows ranging from this Carnival’s all-inclusive Jazzolypso to the just recently concluded first annual Trinidad and Tobago Jazz Festival introducing Chutney Jazz.

The JATT is run by a committed live wire of a President Sean Thomas who is amongst one of the best jazz drummers on the planet and a person who has the interest of the musical education of Trinidad and Tobago youth at heart. Sean could easily be playing music internationally with any of the great living Masters of jazz at present- but instead has committed to come back home to Trinidad and Tobago since 1998 to spread the gospel of Jazz and elevate the quality of music in our homeland. Through dozens of workshops and hundreds of concerts he has done just that.

The rest of JATT team are all hardworking and talented individuals in their own right. I would never want any of my actions- no matter how they were committed with integrity and love for country at heart- to in anyway hinder the JATT from the performance of their duties. I hereby declare the JATT free from any connection from me so that they can continue their great work without any unnecessary attentions.

I, personally, will continue my initiatives to secure artist stakeholder consultation and full national inclusion in the process of the analysis and rationalizing of the architectural and programming specifications of the National Academy for the Performing Arts on Princes Building Grounds, the San Fernando NAPA, the John D NAPA and the Savannah Carnival Centre. I believe that these buildings represent once in 4 lifetime institutional investments that can change the course of culture and life in the country as we know it. We owe it to ourselves as a nation to not waste the time, money or the opportunity- we must get this right.
