Kingston, Jamaica -- March 31, 2010
-- Ever since it was announced that Irish and Chin would stage the final Death Before Dishonor on Monday, April 5 at Pier 1 in Montego Bay, the inevitable question has been -- Who will go home with the bragging rights for winning the final coveted Death Before Dishonor trophy? Even more pressing is the fact that this event will represent a formal end of Irish and Chin’s World Clash series as we know it.

Death Before Dishonor is the last of the industry’s trilogy of premiere sound clashes produced by Irish and Chin.  In 2007, World Clash New York was the first of the premiere clashes to close its curtains. This historical staging featured the likes of all the past winners of World Clash. Additionally, the audience was afforded with the presence of Beenie Man and Ninja Man, who both donned the hats of selectors for the event.  When the smoke cleared, Mighty Crown clenched the final World Clash New York trophy – going down in history as the sound system whose victories opened the event in 1999 and closed it in 2007. Although World Clash formally started in 1998, it was Mighty Crown’s victory in 1999 that catapulted the event to a world renowned status.

Irish and Chin devised World Clash in 1998 as a vehicle of strengthening New York’s once vibrant sound clash arena. But to give the sound clash a special twist, Irish and Chin added a “world” component, inviting sounds from all over the world.  World Clash New York boasted powerful line-ups of major league sounds and a multitude of dynamic new sounds/selectors.  Ultimately, World Clash New York spawned a sound clash phenomenon and global World Clash movement. Because World Clash New York was such a monstrous hit, the event producers replicated this format in Jamaica in 2001 with Death Before Dishonor or “World Clash Jamaica” and in England with UK Cup Clash.

Uk Cup Clash was the second event of the three to close its chapter in 2008. Held in London, the event had the same impact: sold out stagings, heavy line-ups and intense exposure for the industry. During the final UK Cup Clash, Mighty Crown was eliminated an early round and the powerful country sound killers Bass Odyssey went on to hold the bragging rights the event’s final champion.  Sadly, this was clash icon Squingy's last sound performance before passing away.

Death Before Dishonor 10 will mark the last of the World Clash competitions and truly define the end of the an era.  At this event, it will be the last time that Mighty Crown and Bass Odyssey will ever compete on this level. Both sounds are two time winners of the Death Before Dishonor title.  The biggest question on the street is which one of these rivals will be victorious? Mighty Crown bears a slight edge because unlike Bass Odyssey, they were able to clench victories back to back. Nevertheless, Bass Odyssey supporters say that Mighty Crown's consecutive Death Before Dishonor victories do not count, since Bass Oddysey did not compete the last year that Mighty Crown won.

No matter which way you analyze the Mighty Crown/Bass Odyssey rivalry, the suspense is building among sound clash fans. It's no secret that outside of the World Clash arena, both sounds rank as the most feared in the industry. It is anticipated that thousands of people will fill Pier 1 for the very last time to witness a diehard battle between the industry's leading sounds.

Death Before Dishonor 10 will go out with a bang.  Diehard sound clash fans unable to take in DBD's final hoorah, can enjoy the event via live stream by logging onto Irish and Chin (http://www.irishandchin.com) or JamaicaLive TV ( http://www.jamaicalivetv.com/payperview/).
