Soca, Reggae and beautiful people- what more can one ask for?  On Saturday June 20th, D’Bandit celebrated his birthday with a spectacular show called Sunset which was held at The Solarium. The party began at 5p.m. with patrons having the option of enjoying the vibes inside or taking in the scenic view of the Toronto skyline at sunset. The indoor/outdoor party created the perfect setting for the theme of the night’s event.

The action began after the sun had set close to 9.p.m. with E-Man, MC for the night introducing Soca headliner Rupee from Barbados. The crowd really was ‘In a Frenzy’ as Rupee wooed the ladies with the sweet melodies of his songs. Rupee skilfully brought us back in time with tracks such as ‘Jump’, ‘Hands Up’ and the ladies favourite, ‘Tempted to Touch’.

Gyptian’s high energy performance was also one to be remembered. He touched hearts with tracks including ‘Serious Times’, ‘Mama Don’t Cry’ and others which left the ladies at the front of the stage screaming and reaching out to Gyptian. ‘Gyal mi wan fi holdddd yuh’ (‘Hold You’) was performed with the help of the crowd who eagerly awaited this song.

What happens in the party should really stay in the party but this time it was too good to keep it a secret. For those present, the show was worth every penny spent on the ticket... and for those who missed out, we know where you need to be next time. D’Bandit, next time we partying til’ morning!

Much love and blessings from Empress Esi. See you soon!
