As the countdown begins for the 7th season of Digicel Rising Stars to hit the airwaves, the host hopefuls are still trying to convince Jamaica why they should be the next host of the popular local talent competition. We caught up with the ladies and gave them one last chance to convince Jamaica why they should be chosen.

Kemesha Bolton – Voting #: Call or text 1 to 444-2740

Kemesha Bolton was in charge of the May Pen auditions and she says Jamaica should chose her because of the realness she would bring to the Digicel Rising Stars set: “It is easy for any one with media experience to get on a stage and host a show, but the thing that takes it home to the viewing audience is the Human factor. It is the level of sensitivity one has to have towards the contestants and the audience.”

Kemesha says she will be the perfect link between the contestants and the audience when the 7th season of the popular talent show begins and that’s why Jamaicans should vote for her: “I’m a people person, enthusiastic, creative, sensitive and very cultured. I understand in no uncertain terms the spirit of the Jamaican people, I, unlike many, am an all-rounder, able to warm up and fit in to any area and social environment, downtown, uptown, country and around town. There is no doubt that I would be a very good addition to the Digicel Rising Stars family, and will surely lift the quality of the viewer experience.”

Cameka McRae – Voting #: Call or text 2 to 444-2740

Cameka McRae, who hosted the auditions in the sunshine city of Portmore, says as host she will bring lots of energy to the Digicel Rising Stars competition: “If I'm selected I'll be me first of all. I'm full of life, energy, and spontaneity that will warm your heart and leave a lasting smile on your face.”

Cameka says she is a people person and that should win the hearts of Jamaicans: “I love people and I love to be in the middle of things. My friends say there is never a dull moment when I'm around and some say I'm crazy (in a good way of course). If I'm selected I'll be real, compassionate to the contestants and will definitely bring life to your television screen and light up your home. So Vote for me your favourite girl Cameka "Kimone" McCrae.”

Deidre James – Voting #: Call or text 3 to 444-2740

Deidre James held the Digicel Rising Stars microphone in Montego Bay and she says as Digicel Rising Stars host she will help revitalise the show: “Simply put, I would love & be humbled by the opportunity to help re-generate the current spirit & energy of the Digicel Rising Stars brand. I love being around people, love entertaining them and am so willing to go as far as possible to make that happen! Entertainment comes naturally to me.”

Deidra says as Digicel Rising Stars host she’ll make sure everyone feels included: “I would aim to ensure that each person genuinely feels apart of the production, somewhat connected; each person should leave the show with a genuine ‘smile on his/her face’ and warmth in their hearts. In the same breath, the contestants should feel comfortable around me.”

Deidre says Jamaica should vote for her as she has a lot to offer to the competition: “I’d like to bring fun, frolic, excitement, comedy, a touch of professionalism (no rigidity) and natural energy. So, all that’s left to say is please vote for me and let’s have fun together; let’s Rise together!”

Julie Malcolm – Voting #: Call or text 4 to 444-2740

Julie Malcolm who hosted the Ocho Rios audition says she should be chosen because she has the entire package necessary to be a good host: “Jamaicans should vote Julie Malcolm for Host of Digicel Rising Stars because I have the complete package plus the element of surprise! I have the voice, look, swagger and professionalism necessary to keep you entertained every Sunday night.”

Julie points to her formal training in voice and speech as one of her strong points that will make her a stand out host. Julie says she is more than prepared to help Rising Stars deliver a great season if she is chosen as host: “The Producers of Digicel Rising Stars are preparing for a smashing season, to say the least. If they have placed me in the top five, along with media practitioners, they are saying that there is something special about me that needs to be shared with Jamaica. Do you want to know what it is? VOTE: Julie for host of Digicel Rising Stars!!”

Lady Rennae – Voting #: Call or text 5 to 444-2740

Day two of the Kingston auditions was hosted by Lady Rennae. Rennae says as host of the 7th season of Digicel Rising Stars she will draw on her experience in media to ensure that Jamaicans have a host they can relate to: “Through my training and experiences in media I’ve been taught the importance of three things; prayer, preparation and presentation.  And this is what I will offer as this year’s Digicel Rising Stars host, a girl who is simple and fearlessly herself; a girl who always keeps it real.  One who has a down-to-earth connection with every and anyone and synonymous to the Digicel brand. I’m a representation of talent, innovativeness, energy and a proud agent of the best of brand Jamaica.”

Rennae says she would be humbled if given the opportunity to embark on the Digicel Rising Stars journey with the contestants: “My passion and perspective about entertainment is synonymous with Digicel Rising Stars.  It is a real show, about real people with real talent, hoping for a real chance to be successful.  As the show is riddled with authenticity so should its host and that is what I embody.  The contestants and viewers deserve someone relatable, entertaining and genuine and these are characteristics I possess. It would be a humble honour to be aboard the contestant’s journey, as they ascend from undiscovered talent to seasoned artistes.”

Season 7 of Digicel Rising Stars Live Shows begins on Sunday July 4 when Jamaica will meet their new Host.
