Everyone who has seen “40 days later” (yes the zombie movie) can imagine how weird it must feel to be all alone in an empty street, town or city … well, let me tell you: it doesn’t feel good!

Due to us catching some zzzzZzzzz after J’ouvert and an unfortunate delay in the costume collection (2.30am yawn!), we headed to Castries around 2.30pm!

Needless to say there was no one but us... us... us... us... (ECHOOOO), passing hundreds of empty cups and lunch boxes we finally got a taxi ride to the Vigie roundabout. Usually this is where revelers go mad and run about 10 rounds to ensure the liquor gets into veins and brain cells, well we missed that too.

On the Vigie stretch to town we finally met the last band TOXIK and started making our way through the 13 St. Lucian carnival bands till we reached #3: JUS 4 FUN (Theme: “Great Loves of the Past”) with the largest number of sections (12) on the road for 2010. Have you ever ordered booze from a school bus? Well in J4F this was possible, points for the most creative bar on the road!

FYI: In St. Lucia band members are wearing full costume on both days which can be a bit challenging sometimes since particularly wild carnival addicts lose half of their attire on the first day.

We stayed with Jus 4 Fun until the end since RED UNLIMITED (Theme: “Unspoken Desires”) was finished by 4pm. While looking for them we didn’t find anything but empty streets, wet empty streets that is! St. Lucia Carnival could be called “Wet Fete in Feathers” ... fluffy headpieces start to resemble sculptures of colored seaweed and mascara is everywhere but your lashes... but who cares once the pressure is up? Let me quote this year’s Power Soca Monarch DJ HP: "Pas Mele!"!! (We don’t care!)

The early end of the Monday jump up allowed everyone to be charged up and full of energy for the next day and us to be on time for once... hmph!
