San Fernando, Trinidad (Sonique Solutions) – Celebrated Trinidad and Tobago lyricist and multiple International Soca Monarch champion Bunji Garlin commemorated his birthday in fine style with a one of a kind party experience which showcased the region’s hottest musical acts.

The event called “Earthstrong of a lyricist” which was scheduled as part of Bmobile’s Hot Ticket Summer, was held at the southern Trinidad nightclub Club Sting and attracted a huge collection of Bunji’s fans and fete enthusiasts.

The venue which comprised of both a general and VIP section also featured an exclusive area for Bunji’s fellow entertainers and media colleagues to view all of onstage action in comfort.

Even as Earthstrong’s live entertainment commenced, droves of supporters continued to make their way down to Sting in order to show love and appreciation for Garlin and 11 year long career in music. At around midnight the evening’s MC, Sunny Bling introduced the first performer of the all star cast that spanned various musical genres and Caribbean islands.

First to hit the stage was media personality/artiste RKG, followed by Synergy Soca Star 2010 winner, Metro. The duo known as the “Sorrel Boys” made famous for their internet music video sensation “Yuh Want Some Sorrel Or Wha” performed that track along with other originals and song parodies much to the audience’s amusement.

Soon after local Reggae singer Mr. King kept the crowd in a mellow mood with his conscious lyrics, however, that evolved into an energized vibe with the appearance of Squeezy Rankin who took the night’s performance level to a new high. Club Sting erupted with liveliness due to his vigorous yet entertaining display of lyricism.

Maintaining the hype set by Squeezy Rankin, Sting then experienced a high powered dance routine by one of T&T’s top groups and an electric DJ set hosted by Super Jigga TC. ‘TC’ has the honour of introducing the night’s first regional act, Bad Gyal Cecile from Jamaica. Cecile performed her hits such as “Loser” and “Hot Like We”.

Cecile shared, “It’s always a pleasure to support a fellow artiste and I love Trinidad so it’s always great to represent for the Trini people”. When asked about the show’s sponsors flying her out to be a part of the extravaganza, she enthusiastically stated in her Jamaican parlance, “Ah Bmobile have di ting straight”.

Bunji and Fay-Ann finally appeared on stage and received a warm greeting by the capacity crowd. Fay-Ann instructed the audience to sing “Happy Birthday” for her husband before the pair unleashed their barrage of hits e.g. “By the Bar”, “Carnival Round Di Corner” and “Blaze the Fire”.

Bunji’s Dancehall superstar friends Busy Signal and Beenie Man were the main events acts of the night and brought the patrons to the ultimate level of excitement. Busy had the crowd singing every word to his monster tracks such as “Step Out”, “Styler”, “Up in her Belly”, “Night Shift” and the ever popular “Woi Gyal”. Beenie on the other hand, had everyone in the Club dancing like only he could with classics including “Row Like a Boat”, “Chakka Dance” and “Dude”.

Other notable local and regional artistes on the performance card were Jamaica’s Macka Diamond, Grenada’s Tallpree, St. Vincent’s Problem Child and Denise “Saucy Wow” Belfon.

Earthstrong was enjoyed by all in attendance and appears to be a mainstay in T&T’s annual major events calendar. The various patrons including West Indies cricketer Dwayne Bravo, Soca artiste Shal Marshal and radio DJ Devon Matthews seemed to all enjoy celebrating Bunji’s birthday with him.
