Up against what just might have been the busiest Foreday Morning in terms of number of bands, and miserable weather conditions (it was nonstop torrential rainfall for a few hours well), nothing was stopping this Trini (and fellow Lucian crew) from hitting up a Breakfast fete come Saturday morning!

Crack of Dawn was held at the same venue as last year, Karibu Gardens in Christ Church, and apparently the sand flies also got their invitations. I was still scratching meh bites a week later in Grenada yes! Guys, some OFF!® insect repellent at the door next year eh! On the way in, a nice warm cup of Amarula took care of any cold chills. But the ladies still stuck with their Mimosas.

Once inside, everyone had the same game plan … FOOD! Set up at the rear of the venue was ah spread of both local and regional cuisine, but I was out to distress as many Doubles as I could.  “No peppa, extra chutney please!” As in the past the bar was well stocked, except this year, folks had to cross a lil’ swamp land (or send their loving friends that didn’t mind getting their feet dutty) to access the bar because of all of the rain that fell earlier. Also, it was nice to see the bartenders step up their level of service.

Around 8AM, a live local marching band made its way through the crowd providing a whole different kinda of entertainment. The lead female dancer, with padded materials that accentuated her curves, put smiles on the faces of some lucky male patrons as she give them a small wine/wukkup. The DJs kept the vibes level with a good blend of Bajan and Trini Soca along with some Dancehall. We gotta send a shout out to the crew that comes out to Crack of Dawn every year (rain or shine) and just “free up” and get on bad on the lawn! Who say ‘toe loving’ in the muddy grass??!! Of course, we cannot for about the Caesar’s  Army crew always reppin’ strong (“Did somebody say another photo for smallies in blue tops?” ... inside joke)

At 10:10AM (10 minutes of over time), the Barbadian authorities arrived on the scene and it was a wrap.

Barefoot boyz (Perkins, Coxy and Ozzy) ... thanks for the hospitality.

ps. Food for thought ... should Crack of Dawn consider switching back to the Friday morning OR keep it on Saturday morn, and keep up with a J’ouvert band as part of a post Foreday Morning party?
