When it comes to music, have you ever wondered what is it that that particular artist was thinking when he/she put their pen to paper and wrote the lyrics that would eventually fill the airwaves? What inspired them? And ultimately, what makes a great storyteller. I guess Jack Daniel's wanted to answer that question by bringing music bands and artistes and letting them "spill the beans". For the past couple of weeks on a Tuesday night, Jack Daniel's has been running a promotion called ""Storytellers"" at the Coco Lounge venue.
Just the calm ambiance of the Coco Lounge gave you that acoustic, jazzy feel while the night lights on the Avenue soothed the mind. Patrons held a vibes on the outside, while some was on the inside awaiting the storyteller for the evening. Now on this particular night, one of Trinidad & Tobago's most influential bands when it comes to the Rapso music genre was to do their presentation. Yes, i'm talking about none other than 3 Canal.
Trust me when I say this, i'm a fan of 3 Canal, but never really was a fan of Rapso music. 3 Canal, hats off to y'all. Still not an avid fan of Rapso, BUT....if all bands follow in your footsteps with their music...then yeah, you got me on board. I don't know, listening to a track on the radio is one thing, but when you hear them perform live it's a whole different story. From Roger's vibrant movements getting the crowd pumped, to Wendell's verbal messages enlightening and inspiring the crowd, and lets not forget Stanton with his rhythmic chanting. The followers of 3 Canal, which mind you is huge, all came the night to show the support of the Rapso music as well as their MLF product.....which they specifically made sure and asked patrons not to confuse the name with MILF. Lol. Kess, who was also in attendance was also spotted bouncing his to their vibrations.
I wonder who storyteller would be present for the next one??? Hmmmmm.
